Notes/Commercial Description:
A hop forward beer with dank, resinous hop flavor and aroma, balanced by lightly kilned malt flavors, farmhouse yeast esters and a bit of warming alcohol. Thrash Metal Farmhouse Strong Ale is an homage to thrash metal music, which often fuels us during our daily chores at Jester King.

The beer pours a hazy yellow-pink color with a small white head. The aroma has some orange and pine notes from the hops as well as grass, Belgian yeast, spices and biscuit malt. The flavor has quite a bit of orange and pine, with some biscuit malt, coriander, white pepper and yeast notes. The alcohol is well hidden when the beer is cold, but gets a little more noticeable as it warms. There is quite a bit of hop flavor but the bitterness is low. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Thanks to Lee for this one! Review from notes.

A: Pours a hazy golden/orange color with a nice white head on top (not a massive billowy one like some other JK beers I have had). Nice head retention with moderate lacing.

S: Surprising amount of citrus, lots of orange zest and grapefruit. Some grainy malt and bready and a little bit of spice.

T: More of the same, lots of citrus, mostly orange zest and tangerine with some peppery spice. Sort of reminds of a "white" ipa I had.

M: Medium to full bodied with no sign of the abv at all. Pretty smooth.

O: Another solid beer from Jester King. A hopped up saison really.

Fresh American style farmhouse yeast aroma. Enormous bubbly white head on hazy yellow. Smooth drinking and very drinkable farmhouse, with enough hops to keep it on the bitter side and interesting. Some spice in the finish, though I have had spicier bites in this style.

My new favorite beer, and one that is absolutely perfect in every respect. Wonderful turbid appearance, beautiful color, and perfect head formation/retention/lacing. Great earthy and spicy aroma from the house yeast and the liberal use of hops. Taste is out of this world, with a yeast forward spiciness and a nice balance of hops. The wheat addition is also a very nice touch, as it comes through very subtly while adding a thickness to the pleasantly mid-to-full bodied mouthfeel. I really cannot stress how much I love this beer, and it definitely turned me on to Jester King, whose other offerings (Petite Prince was too watery, Wytchmaker was infected and oxidized, Noble King didn't stand out) were nothing too special. Well done, and cheers!

Bottle poured into a tulip glass. Beer pours a clear copper color with a two fingers of loose off white bubbly head that quickly receded to a collar of bubbles. Plenty of carbonation streaming up from the bottom of the glass.

Nose is malty, toasted grain and caramel, a little grassy note. A red apple fruity ester note as it warms.

Taking a sip, malty upfront, caramel, toasted grain, fruity ester, apple and a light clove flavor. Finishes cleanly.

Medium body with plenty of soft carbonation that gently hits the tongue.

Pours a nice thick dense almost white head. Golden hazy orange body. A slight touch of lacing and the alcohol legs are quite nice. Head settles to a touch more than a cap.

Am I smelling an IPA or a farmhouse ale? The balance between the two are great. The hops come through with a nice pine, orange zest, sweet citrus, and white grapefruit aroma. A bready maltiness, faint floral, lemons, white grapes, and fruity yeast esters as well.

Creamy orange, light pine, white pepper, and rye bread flavors. Drys out nicely on the backend much like good ipa's/saison's do. The negative thing about that here is the bitterness from the hops and both the saison peppery dry finish clash. Some more hop flavors or sweet malts on the finish would help smooth this out. The aftertaste lingers with a light touch of pine, orange, and wild flower honey (not sticky sweet) that sits on the back of the tongue. A nice full-bodied beer which reveals hardly any alcohol at all. A quick alcohol bite on the middle of the palate but is shoved aside right away.

A truly unique experience here! Very much the farmhouse/saison style blends really nicely with a west coast style DIPA. It seems like a perfect marriage between the two. For me I would like it to lean a little more towards the IPA side. (But then again I am a Hophead) A hit more hop flavor and aroma would've totally blown me away, but I'm still thoroughly impressed. I think the balance is almost spot on. (the finish is my only slight complaint) I have not had a beer like this before. Some farmhouse/saison beers claim to be hopped up, but they can't say that after Thrash Metal has smashed them over the head. Another awesome brew from Jester King!

A: This pours a very nice dark copper orange body with a thick white head that slowly fades and leaves a lot of lace on the side of the glass.

S: There is a strong amount of malt at first and it also has a nice bit of hops. It seems very sweet and fruity too.

T: The first thing I recognize is the nice hops on the palate. The big lingers for a long time and then has a very pleasant malt taste.

M: This to me is the best part of the beer. It is so smooth and easy to drink. When I pour it into my mouth it has a nice fluffy feeling that goes down with ease. There is a tiny bit of crispness too.

O: Just another very solid beer released by Jester King. If you see this, def get it!
