Had on tap at The Tap Exchange.
Appearance is a deep gold with a thin white head that dissipates quickly into a rim of foam that sticks around to the end of the glass.
The nose is sweet pilsner malt, perfumey warm alcohol and spicy Czech saaz hops, followed with traditional farmhouse yeast character.
The taste starts out with an implication of sweetness that is quickly replaces with the warm (but smooth) alcohol. Over ripe fruits (pineapple and pear) from the yeast along with a touch of spice. Finishes with a nice bitterness that is very smooth, tastes more like alcohol bitterness than hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel is dry and full with bright and spritsy carbonation.
Overall a great beer. One of the better beers from Jester King.
Serving type: on-tap
