On tap at the Jester King 1st Anniversary Party
Pours black with plenty of dark brown edges. 1 finger tan head that sticks around forever, but doesn't leave a lot of lacing on the glass.
Smells like a whiskey sour. Substantial barrel in the nose, especially vanilla. This is combined with ample sourness, roasted malt, and chocolate. Very sour!
Taste is completely dominated by sour flavor, which was very unexpected. There is very little distinguishing the barrel, even after it has warmed up. Chocolate and malt is also taken over by the sourness.
Strong carbonation giving a creamy mouthfeel, and a medium to heavy body.
I was disappointed by this, and was expecting a much more balanced beer. Typically, I like sours, but the barrel aging combined with the sour did not really work out.
