750ml bottle into a tulip

A: Pours dark brown with a small brown head that fades to a ring and leaves no lacing on the glass.

S: The nose is a nice combination of cocoa, graham cracker, coffee, and a touch of vanilla.

T: The taste is very similar with notes of coffee, chocolate, graham cracker, and a bit of vanilla on the finish.

M: The feel is medium and slightly creamy from the carbonation.

O: This is much better than the Weasel but a bit under the whiskey. I would love to see this one brewed again.

"According to the brewer, this is an Imperial Oatmeal Stout brewed with smoked malt, chipotle peppers and Vietnamese coffee. This is the second collaboration between the two breweries"

Sampled at the Big Texas Beer Fest.

The beer pours a very dark brown to black color with a large tan head. The aroma is full of heavily roasted malt, chocolate, pepper and a little bit of light smoke. The flavor is very similar. I get a lot of roasted malt and chocolate, with some light coffee and smoke notes. There is also a nice roasted pepper component as well as a little bit of creaminess. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

#BOTG 27!

This gushed when I popped it, but settled down quickly after pouring it into my CBS snifter. Pours a pitch black motor oil thickness, tan/brown head sticks to the top of the glass. Great looking beer. Smell- dark chocolate, pepper notes. Some plastic? Not much else here. Taste- man oh man. This is nice. A spicy dark chocolate coats the back of my throat. Some sweet cherry notes round out the sides of my mouth, but its followed by a rush of spicy pepper finish. The espresso flavors arent as pronounced as I would like them to be here, it seems to be all about the dark chocolate/chile pepper play. Mouthfeel is appropriate. Cant wait to see what they do with the weasel batch...

Thanks to Matt for this one. 750ml bottle into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter.

Pours a massive 3 finger, creamy, thick mocha head with great retention. Beer is pitch black. Lacing is stringy and thick with excellent cling and big, thick, oily legs. Outstanding. Couldn't ask for more from an imperial stout.

Nose is roasted malt, chocolate, cocoa, mild pepper tartness, and grainy coffee. Rich, robust and aromatic. Pretty good though a bit unintegrated and with some weird flavors floating about.

Opens chocolate, sweet dark fruit, cocoa, fudge with a slight coffee presence right at the end. Peppers hit hard right at the finish, tickling the back of my throat. Spicy going down. Finishes sweet and chocolatey with a good bit of heat. Nice but again, this leaves me a bit wanting... for a bigger coffee presence.

Light to medium bodied with low carbonation. Smooth and slightly boozy in the mouth but a bit thin. Goes down oily and warm. Finishes slightly messy with a lingering aftertaste. Wish this had a bit more body.

A decent beer overall but there were a couple of aspects that left me wanting. The body is a bit thin and the coffee and pepper flavors are a touch out of balance. Ok but I wouldn't revisit this with so many decent beers in the style floating around.

Appearance- Good inch or so head that fades to a quarter inch in the glass. Retained a ring of foam around the edges and produces lively bubbles down the sides of the glass when tilted. Very dark with tan head.

Smell- Roasted and chocolate malts. Sweetness mixed with funk and spice(reminds me of a pumpkin stout). I catch a lot of different things going on here but it doesn't quite pull together. Seems a bit cluttered.

Taste- Wow. Here we go! Nice base to build on. Seems a bit like an imperial porter. Bitterness up front followed by the chocolate, crystal, and roasted malts. Finishes with pepper spice, bitter coffee, and smoke.

Mouthfeel- Medium to full bodied. The bitterness and carbonation keeps it lively. Smoke and bitterness really carry the aftertaste through. This beer is pretty fresh and will probably benefit from some extended bottle conditioning.

Overall- Solid second collaboration with MIKKELLER. Quite the opposite end of the spectrum from the first collab. I really enjoy peppered porters/stouts but this one isn't for everyone. I'm really impressed by how much the pepper is carried in the aftertaste by the bitterness, smoke, and carbonation.

A- Dark with a thick latte-coloured head when poured roughly into goblet. Head is foamy and leaves heavy lacing. Light does not permeate when beer is held to light.

S- Bitter hops and coffee. Roasted, very dark malt, a light pepper scent (nasal burn?).

T- Coffee and roasted malt upfront, with peppery (the spicy vegetable kind) flavor and aftertaste.

M- Light to medium-bodied for style, smooth and creamy. The light burn of the pepper lingers well after swallowing.

O- Fantastic. Definitely my favorite Jester King so far. The local wild yeast is indiscernible to me and every note hits.

Pours black, with a medium mocha colored head, leaves a little lace and dissipates to a dark foam. Aroma is coffee, some dry chocolate, lots or roast, some char and some spiciness. More coffee and chocolate on the the taste, dry cocoa powder, roasted, almost charred malts and a bit of peppery heat that tingles on the back of the throat. The feel was upper medium bodied to full, some creaminess with a clean finish.

I nice imperial stout, but the coffee wasn't as enticing as the other Beer Geek variants.

A: pours a very dark black body with a thick brown head that slowly fades and leaves a nice amount of lace on the glass.

S: A LOT of roasted malt, some espresso scents, spiciness and a nice bit of booze.

T: The flavors explode on my palate with a lot of different flavors. I am getting a lot of roasted malt, pepper, coffee and even a slight cigar taste as the beer lingers.

M: This beer goes down amazingly smooth for such a high alcohol beers. It leaves a dry feeling and even has a little heat hat tingles the back of my throat.

O: Just another amazing beer from Jester King. This is one of those styles of beers you don't see very often that absolutely blow me away every time I have them.
