The beer looks black in the glass with a small mocha head that falls apart relatively quickly. There is a noticeable difference in the head in this beer and the Beer Geek Rodeo.

Coffee, chocolate, and roast with a fairly prevalent pepper hanging behind those aromas.

The coffee is hitting first giving way to some chocolate, roast, and pepper. The chipotle gets quite active at the back end with spice and warmth felt throughout.

A very smooth brew with light carbonation and med-full body.

The Kopi Luwak seems more gimmicky than anything(doesn’t provide anything special for being the most expensive coffee around) and the carbonation seems off when compared to the Beer Geek. Still enjoyed the hell out of it.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with light dry coffee, black chocolate and some very subtle peppers notes. Taste is also a mix of peppers, dry coffee with some black chocolates and some dry coffee notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very enjoyable stout with plenty of flavours that are well balanced. I think a bit more pronounced peppers notes would have made things more interesting.

2012 vintage

a - poured flat. no head with just the slightest ring of lace. body was dark black.
s - coffee aromas with a hint of alcohol.
t - coffee with a spicy finish. slightly boozy.
m - thin and dull. no carbonation to speak of.
o - i had high hopes for this beer and think there was something there but this beer was about as flat as can be which really messed up the experience.

a very thick black pour with a slight amount of bubbles - no head, looks like there's no sign of carbonation at all.
the smell is a strong bold roast, dark chocolate, coffee, oak, vanilla, dates, fig. the flavor is just as bold as the aroma, however there is a bit of a peppery kick (very subtle) in the finish. a delicious coffee roasty bitterness overall, with hints of chocolate and a boozy bite.
the beer itself is completely flat, which i'm not sure is an aging problem since i've aged beers way longer and they stayed pretty well carbonated. a thick, mouth coating feel aside from that.

i feel like if this beer was a slight bit carbonated, it would have made a world of difference. the flavor and aroma are excellent. it would just be a lot better with some fizzyness.
