a very thick black pour with a slight amount of bubbles - no head, looks like there's no sign of carbonation at all.
the smell is a strong bold roast, dark chocolate, coffee, oak, vanilla, dates, fig. the flavor is just as bold as the aroma, however there is a bit of a peppery kick (very subtle) in the finish. a delicious coffee roasty bitterness overall, with hints of chocolate and a boozy bite.
the beer itself is completely flat, which i'm not sure is an aging problem since i've aged beers way longer and they stayed pretty well carbonated. a thick, mouth coating feel aside from that.

i feel like if this beer was a slight bit carbonated, it would have made a world of difference. the flavor and aroma are excellent. it would just be a lot better with some fizzyness.

750ml bottle poured into tulip 21/7/13

A doesn’t look jet black but only has a thin cola edge, just a thin pinky of mocha foam even after a dump down the center, just a few specks of lace

S loads of dark chocolate covered coffee beans, burnt espresso, bakers chocolate, coco powder, faint smoke and just a hint of licorice

T a little of the peppers in the mouth that I wasn’t smelling on the nose, even more coffee and burnt dark roast, rather intense really, some char replaces the smoke on the nose

M not as thick as the color would imply but still has plenty of body, faint heat from the peppers builds slowly

O great coffee flavors and the mellow heat works well, lots of dark roast but no booze at any point

Solid coffee stout that I’ll look for in the future, thanks Mike and Trevor for sharing
