Pours a beautiful, slightly cloudy, slightly darker yellow. Good head/lacing.

As I crack the bottle, huge Brett aromas present themselves. Smell is awesomely hoppy. Lemon, lemon sherbet, very vibrant and pleasant. Kind of like a lemon-flavoured soda but better. Also strong, raw pine. Sweet, inviting aroma. Spicy, with a dustiness and an oaked (or more accurately, cedar-ed) quality.

Taste is fruity flavours, with a nice bitterness from the hops, cedar or Brett. Spicy notes of cedar, dustiness, alcohol and finishes dry and Bretty, almost Orval-y.

Mouthfeel is a bit syrupy, a bit of booze and wood and altogether has a strong presence.

Good, unique beer with a lot of character. The hops, cedar and Brett all mingle above a dry Belgian background to create a very complex beer.

Perhaps the cedar makes things a little bit too bitter but I'm very glad to have tried this beer.

Jester King is 2 for 2 in my book.

750ml bottle. Thanks James!

A: Cloudy orange body with a solid cap of ultra-fine tan foam. Spotty lace.

S: Powerful cedar, floral Brett, and lots of peppery spice. Maybe a little unbalanced, but exciting.

T: Follows the nose entirely. Super woody, a little Bretty, and spicy as all hell. Intense and abrasive.

M: Substantial medium body, light carbonation. Ok.

O: I was really excited about this one, as I've been a huge fan of Cigar City's Humidor beers, but the cedar was rather over the top in this one - and it only got more one-dimensional as it warmed. Fun to try, but not for me.

Jester King Brewery - El Cedro, poured into a Fiddlehead snifter.

Look - Pours a cloudy mimosa color with a sizable bubbly head that dissipates quickly but retains a bit. Lots of chunky lacing.

Smell - Aroma is brett and fruity sour with a hint of the cedar. Hops are there but they can barely push through all the other aromas.

Taste - Holy brettanomyces!!! So much flavor! This blasts you here with brett and cedar for sure, with a touch of bitter pine hops.

Mouthfeel - Sits sour brett, dry cedar, and a little warm. Slightly boozy but even still the drinkability is good. Light and refreshing even with the extreme flavor in this brew.

Overall - As far as this particular style goes, this is one hell of a brew and probably the most unique of this style that I have ever had. Balls to the walls but good. Not for the faint of heart or palate!
