This is a really interesting new place that has opened up around Richmond and Kirby. The bar/restaurant has a more upscale feel to it. As you walk in there is a small kind of L shaped bar to sit at. There are some high top tables behind the bar, regular low top tables, and a small banquet room off to the right. Overall a fairly small dinning area with a small patio outside along Richmond. Very dimly lit. I can see this being a place for a date or a nice night out. It is a little more classy, but not pretentious.

The service was fine. It is hard to rate because the staff is very competent about the food, wine, and mixed drinks. Though just average knowledge about the beer. They know what is on tap, and correct glassware. Which is good.

Overall the food is good to great. I had a pepper corn steak that was cook perfectly the last time I visited. Though that is expensive. There is also a really unique lamb kabob burger that is great. Some UK and India options for the most part. I have to up my original food score because they have really done a great job lately. An updated menu, and good specials as well. Excellent.

On to the beer! They have 14 taps. Most are decent to really good craft beers. The duds being Guinness and Harp. Most of the rest consists of stuff like Stone Arrogant Bastard, Left Hand Milk Stout, Dogfish Head 90, etc. There are plenty of locals as well. Buried Hatchet Stout, Independence, 512 Pecan Porter, and some Real Ale. They also have a rotating cask. The most recent being Victory Hop Devil. There is a decent bottle list of similar crafts. Plenty US micros, locals, Belgians, and German offering to go around.

The quality is not what I would expect though. Some of the regular kegs seems a bit old, and the cask did not seem right. Though the last few times I have visited there has been no cask option. It always seemed a bit off to me anyway. No problems with the rotating local Texas options though.

Overall, a nice place to visit for a beer and a meal. I have made a few more visits over the last few months, and they have improved on pretty much everything I had a comment on. This is a really nice addition to the beer scene in Houston.

Went to this place for the first time last week with a good friend for happy hour, and then again yesterday with a bunch of other friends. What a welcome addition to the Houston craft bar and restaurant scene! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but on the inside, it is a classy, upscale, sophisticated bar and restaurant. Craft beer selection is small, but quality, and very local (they almost always have 512 IPA, 512 Pecan Porter, some Real Ale selections, and at least one Jester King Tap- yesterday they had the Wytchmaker- yay!). The thing that really sets Queen Vic apart is the food- they have some well crafted Indian-fusion dishes that were amazing. It is hard to find a great bar&restaurant that has great craft selections, great food, AND great atmosphere. Queen Vic is a marriage of all three. I really hope it succeeds and that Houston figures this place out quick.

The only downside is the parking. They have complimentary (but forced) valet parking after 5, because they have a tiny parking lot that doesn't even come close to accommodating the place.

Overall, awesome, I will return many many more times.

Good south River Oaks location for The Queen Vic -- close to Midtown, Montrose, Rice, West University, etc. This is a nice place. Leans much more to date-night-spot than hang-out-with-the-guys-spot. It's somewhat small but well put together. Lots of patio seating. Comfortable, clean, and cozy.

14 taps, almost all craft (Guinness and Harp being the exceptions). What gets me excited about this place is that they seem to be on top of getting the new, small, local offerings; I have had Jester King Whiskey Barrel Commercial Suicide here, for example.

The Queen Vic is Anglo-Indian -- the menu consists of naan, samosas, and bhajia alongside fish & chips, bangers & mash, and other traditional British plates. Short rib samosa? Yes, please. Really good food here, albeit on the more expensive side.

This is a nice little addition to the quality craft beer spots in Houston and has a rightful position among the top places to get good beer in the city. Check it out.
