This review is going to be negative, and that's unfortunate, because I live within walking distance to “NW Liquid Gold”, and I am a serious beer nut, going all the way back to the days when I used to live in Germany [mid 70's], and sharpened through my travels during a career in the Navy where I experienced 1st hand, GREAT beers throughout the Pacific and beyond [Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, Seattle, Netherlands Antilles, New Caledonia etc] and culminating into my own experimentation into craft brewing.

When I 1st discovered “NW Liquid Gold” SO CLOSE” to my home, I was SO Excited! So one Friday night, after an evening of cutting firewood, [Oct 19, 2012], I dropped in with my wife[I was SO EAGER to show her the new place I discovered!]
They had “Arrogant Bastard” on tap, but the REAL Arrogant Bastard on site was the grouch behind the bar; the owner, Mr Peter Wallace.
I tried to tell Peter that my wife liked “Hefeweizen” type beers, but even though there were “SEVERAL” wheat based beers available, he went over, and pulled a tap of beer, and placed it in front of my wife, and then looked over to me and said “So what do YOU want?”, I was a bit taken back, and just called out “Number 13”, and he poured me a beer with the same non caring attitude.
When my wife asked for a slice of lemon to go in her beer, Peter went into a tirade about how the “Ridiculous Laws of Washington State” did not allow him to offer “condiments”.
I was still eager to make this a “Positive Experience”, so I decided to “Look Past” Peter's “Initial Rudeness” and , TRIED to engage him in some “friendly” conversation.
Upon discovering that we both had been to Darwin Australia, I tried to share the experience I had of feeding fish by hand at the waters edge near town
[ http://www.enjoy-darwin.com/doctors-gully.html ].
Peter basically said I was “full of it” because anyone stupid enough to be near water in Darwin would be attacked by Crocodiles.
When I requested “Nuggets with Attitude” beer from “Burnside Brewing Company”, [because I used “Nugget Hops” in MY OWN recipe], Peter “scoffed” at me saying that “Nuggets” in the name of the beer had NOTHING to do with a “Hop” variety, and if there WAS such a thing as a “Nugget” hop, how come HE had never heard of it!

When I tried to share with Mr. Wallace how much I liked the “ESB” style beers he had on tap, he cut me off in mid sentence, telling me he didn't like “Bitter” beers like “Ales”, and that he ONLY liked ''Stouts”.
By THIS time I realized it would be a WASTE of MY TIME to “inform” Mr. Peter Wallace that almost ALL stout beers WERE in fact “Ales”, and that the term “Ale” had NOTHING to do with how BITTER a beer was, but INSTEAD is a reference to the kind of YEAST used to BREW the beer!
In conclusion, I don't really care if the appropriator of a local drinking establishment has “great knowledge” of the beverages he sells, [although “some knowledge” would be nice!], BUT, someone who is “Rude and Conceited”, will ALWAYS be a “deal breaker” for ME. There are “SO MANY” awesome beer drinking establishments just across the river, why would I waste MY time and MY money JUST to be insulted?

Finally got a chance to stop by. Nice selection of quality bottles and cans. A few misc glasses for sale as well. Washington only distro beers to boot.
Co-owner was very nice and helpful. Down to earth guy. Great beer knowledge and honest about brews, etc. Store felt welcoming.
Atmosphere is pretty mild, accessible, beer type stuff. Nothing special but clean. Should be expanding to a taproom and deli soon I've heard.
The tap list is the shining star here. Lots of excellent choices. Also the ability to sample before committing. The price is excellent. Most growlers are $10. A bit more for rare beers but rightly so.
Eager to have this in town.

This place just opened up and I'm glad that its on the east side of Vancouver, that side of town needed a good craft beer spot badly. Pretty small store in kindof a weird location but they really know their beer. They have a couple coolers of very well chosen selections of mostly NW microbrews....not the same staggering selections that you will find at Belmont station or Johns in Portland but they have some great beers. The best part of this place though in my opinion is their tap selection. They do growler fills there and its fairly reasonable. Lots of stuff you wont see other places. I went there the other day and got 2 large mason jars filled with Fresh Hop Mirror Pond and Fresh Hop Ninkasi total domination. Other taps that stood out to me were several from Ft. George (Stout and Drunkin Punkin), Sound brewing tripel, The stoic and several other great looking beers. This is my new go-to beer store as its very close to my house.

Stooped by this place after seeing a couple of posts in the forums.
There about 200 bottles and 15 taps if I remember right.
The bottle selection when I was there include most of the breweries avaliable from the Western states. They don't do imports or east coast beers at this time.
The do growler fills from $10 to $22 depending on the beer. The had a nice selection of taps the day I was there, that included, Parabola, Drunkin' Punkin, Fresh Hop Total Dom, Stoic, and others.
Pete was great about filling my growlers and pointed out a few beers to try. Worth a look if your in the Orchards area of Vancouver, WA.
