About a month old-
L- a dull orange (not my favorite) but tons of sticky lacing.
S- sugary orange, pine and some ripe fruit (like peach)
T- caramelized hops up front (sweet citrus and pine) with a lingering moderate grapefruit bitterness. Well balanced, juicy and very drinkable as it masks the ABV quite well.
F- not dry, stays on the tongue with sticky, sweet biterness.
O -top notch IPA, would love to try this within a couple weeks of canning but at a month in still one of the best IPA's you can get in CO. Trying Melvin's lineup has been a real treat.

12 oz can. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a big meringue white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet bready malt, soft fruit and lots of piney resiny hops.

The flavor is sweet fruity caramel malt with lots of resiny dank piney hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a very nice IPA.

12 ounce can into a ten ounce nonic glass.

Light copper-colored liquid with a sudsy inch and a half of head. Light trickling carbonation is visible as the body is nearly perfectly clear. Lace forms a crown around the glass. 4.75

Very sexy aroma. Pungent tropical fruit. Mango, pineapple and papaya. The usual suspects. A malty aroma is present in the form of light caramel, bread and vanilla. Spicy and resinous notes appear too. This is great. 4.25

I'm surprised by how juicy this flavor is. Pungent, prickly and spicy both in flavor and feel. Pineapple bursts. Dry mango follows. Dry, resinous and earthy notes take things out. I'm impressed how much tropical fruit flavor this is hitting with. Who says haze is required for a juice bomb? T- 4.5 M- 4.25

Had on tap at Thai Me Up. Review from notes.

A: Pours a darker copper color with a small off-white head on top, decent retention and lacing.

S: Wow, extremely fruity. Lots of citrus and tropical fruits, pineapple, grapefruit, and papaya.

T: Very similar to the aroma, just a blast of tropical fruits, chiefly grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine.

M: Medium bodied with smooth mouthfeel. Very easy drinking.

O: A really nice beer, tons of citrus fruit which is something I am always looking for.

Got on trade! 12oz can served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a tiny 1/2" high white head that films out within a minute or two. Medium to dark gold colour and unfiltered

S- Oodles of hops here. Tons of citrus. Blast of hops. Must be few varieties in here. Doesn't have that big sugar bite either. Nice! Every bit of the 80IBU's are there.

M- Dry and tart

O- Nice brew. So refreshing. Bit rich so it's not a sunny day sipper but it is a nice change up brew.

Food Pairing

This wonderful little brew went well with....... Chili!

Enjoy

Fresh growler, opened in Portland Oregon.

A - Pours straw colored with amber edges, a thin but frothy white foam on top. Crystal.

S - Bruleed grapefruit, kumquat, resinous pine, & sweet biscuit.

T - Tight, bright and bitter, grapefruit pith, lemon, long lingering bitterness.

M - A nice, even body with surprising carbonation, given the growler transport.

O - A very tasty, well-executed rendition of the style. Next Level, I'd say. Glad I got to try it!

Got this in a growler fill from Safeway in Bellingham, WA. Poured (same day as fill) into a Spiegelau IPA glass and reviewed from notes on first taste.
A - Clear amber, not a lot of puffy head like I tend to like in my IPAs, but a thin head that is consistent throughout.
S - Tropical notes dominate - mango, mandarin orange - but also a bit piney.
T - Hop and malt balance is on point. Malt sweetness dominates the front with tropical fruit hoppiness at back. Reminds me of Manila mangoes and calamansi skin/pith.
M - Pretty even body. Makes for a decent mouthfeel. Carbonation is good, which has turned out to be good for the growler fill. I've been drinking for 3 days now out of the growler, and it still has good carbonation.
O - A pleasant surprise IPA. This is higher ABV for an IPA, but it works well. Glad to have met Melvin IPA. Hope to see more of it. Paired the other night with take-out Korean food, and it went well with the spiciness.

Draft and from a bottle now... Pours clear light orange with a very nice white head... Pretty intense citrusy and pineapple hoppiness.. piney and a little dankness with warmth... Again, not as bitter as most IPA's that are this big... Very balanced and deceptively drinkable.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a two finger white head with great retention and lots of thick lacing. Aroma is just what I'm looking for: caramel malt, piney and citrus hops, hints of stone and tropical fruit. Flavor is mildly caramel malt, resinous, but not intense, piney and citrus hops, tropical fruit, lemon and orange. Finishes with smooth resinous piney and citrus hops. Great medium body with pleasant creaminess, great mouth feel. My first reaction to the first sip, was "smooth", everything seems in harmony, great balance of hops and malt. The malt feels substantial and has a light caramel component, but its flavor melds with the other parts. I expected a little more intense hoppiness, but for an IPA this balanced, I'm willing to enjoy everything else. My second Melvin and I'm very impressed.
