A legitimate 5 star restaurant located in Plymouth, CA. Plymouth is a small town located in Amador County, one of California's numerous wine regions.
Taste has received excellent reviews from the NY Times as well as the Sacramento Bee naming it one of the top 10 restaurants in the Bay Area.
The food and service lived up to the reviews. The food is truly excellent. If you dropped this restaurant in the middle of San Francisco it would be one the top restaurants in the city. The fact that it's in Plymouth makes it all the more remarkable. The appetizers, main courses, and deserts were all outstanding. I recommend the filet mignon as well as the banana cheesecake. The service was impeccable. The prices on the food is expensive but well worth it, with the entrees in the $25 to $35 range. The wine list is also excellent.
On to the beers... they have 4 taps and about 18 bottles. Everything is well thought out and wide ranging. They have American crafts as well as top quality imports. What really sets this place apart is that they treat beer with equal reverence to wine. They even have an employee, Tracy, that is studying to become a cicerone. She will come to your table and discuss the beers with you. She really knows her stuff. She'll even recommend a pairing based on your food order. The beer is served in oversized wine glasses.
I can't recommend this place highly enough. The food, service, and their appreciation for beer makes this an absolute must for anybody that happens to find themselves in Amador County.
