A 330ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2015. Acquired a little while back from Beeritz. Described on the label as an IPA brewed with a blend of hops from around the globe.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A bright orange-amber hue with faint haze and medium carbonation. Yields a small head of frothy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Aroma of weird fruitiness - the dominant impression is one of sweet strawberry yoghurt. Hints of berries, white grape, tangerine, subtle citrus, grass/hay, mild earthiness, a twinge of butter and faint stewed hops. Surprisingly sweet; it smells underattenuated despite being bottle conditioned. A most bizarre combo.

Tastes of fruity aromatic hops followed by a lingering bitter finish. Notes of sweet berries, yoghurt, white grape, tangerine/clementine, sharp lime, citrus, mild grass/hay, subtle earthy yeast, faint malt and stewed hops. Somewhat sweet, followed by a hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with decent carbonation and a slightly insubstantial body. Hops oils tickle the tastebuds. Mildly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity hops, hints of yoghurt, yeast and a leafy bitterness.

Hoppy enough to be interesting, but the overall effect is rather odd. I'm not sure where the yoghurt comes from. Looks OK - pity there isn't much of a head. The aroma and flavour are intensely fruity and quite sweet; the hop blend gives variety to the character but the beer is let down by a lack of attenuation. Body is lacklustre and could be more substantial. There's a good beer in here somewhere but the flaws need to be ironed out first. Worth trying but no need to hunt it down.

Strawberry blonde with just a ribbon of white froth + a few trailers of lace.
Overripe orange, flowers, cantaloupe, and cedar oil on the nose.
Lemon curd on saltines then tangelo, aspirin, nectar, evergreen and pompelo hops.
Citrus rind end and drying lemon twist + starfruit finish.
Medium, oily, sulfuric, some cling.

They're vague, but hops are "a blend of Cascade, Centennial, Galaxy, Citra, Pacific Jade and Wakatu. But we might vary occasionally."

Some prominent hops, but big to the point of being underattenuated (minimal hiss + fizz bolsters that notion.) Also has a wet grassy nose + malt syrup tang I associate with bad homebrew. Wakatu and Pac Jade could be pine and pepper, adding up to a pretty lean profile, but I don't think that's what's going on here. The aroma hops don't pop w/o carb, and so lay uncomfortably need to some scratchy IBUs.

And how does any IPA at this strength have a 2 year expiry date?

Good idea, poorly executed.
