Thanks to kubrick215 for sharing.

Pours a very hazy, dark golden orange color with banana like hues and a massive pillowy white head that takes forever to settle.  Seems over carbonated with large chunks of lace left behnd.

Musty, funky aroma with earhty saison /farmhouse yeast and a really strong earthy brett presence.  Subtle citrus and tropical fruit that's comes to the forefront as it warms.   There's also some light fruit, notably banana, apple and pear countering the prominent must and funky bugs.

Medium bodied with tight carbonation and a very strong dry, musty brett flavor that overpowers the other flavors.  After it warms and the palate adjusts, there is some more balance with funky farmhouse yeast, bread and citrus fruit notes.  Still, the wild bugs and funky yeast dominate with only faint hints of apple, pear and zesty orange peel.  This beer has the potential to be pretty good but it's a bit one dimensional and the carbonation level is way off, negatively affecting the flavor.

A - Cloudy golden-yellow with a finger of frothy white head. Fades slowly.

S - Sweet grainy malts, funky and tart Brett, citrus and lemon zest.

T - Sweet wheat and grainy malts, citrus and lemon zest, tart green fruits, funky Brett.

M - Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation.

D - Nice Brett beer.

Right off the bat, this one gushed pretty bad. Pours murky yellow with more foam than beer on initial opening. Head died down to leave little retention.

Smells like brett. Really not much else. Maybe a few spicy Belgian yeast notes.

Pretty similar flavor. Generic saison characteristics overlayed with Brett. Not particularly complex or interesting and the spices along with brett leave an astringent aftertaste.

Light bodied and as previously mentioned way over carbonated which accentuated the astringency more.

Meh totally forgettable beer. The search for a Funkwerks beer I like is still ongoing.

The beer pours a hazy straw color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of brett and leather notes, as well as some orange citrus notes and some wheat. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of the funky brett and leather notes, which really dry out the beer. I also get some orange and lemon notes which go well with the brett. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Chilled bottle into a glass. Thanks, Traver!

A: This pours with a massive amount of carbonation, practically sublimating on impact with the glass. The body is a murky golden color.

S: Not a particularly expressive nose, but you can tell there was brett here; it has a lemon-hay hybrid funk with an aroma of dandelions. I am intrigued but not blown away.

T: This has some elements of tropical fruit (mango?) along with lemon and a floral presence; I likened it to dandelions, but I am not totally sure if I can place the flavor. Mild bretty funk in the finish. Just not very distinct or developed, and it's a bit disappointing given how many brett beers are on the market these days, many of them doing it well.

M: If it weren't so damn foamy, it might have more body and presence. I couldn't pick up a lot of flavor given how washy the body and finish are.

O: Meh. This was pretty forgettable.

Poured GENTLEY in to a tulip. Massive amounts of carbonation and head. Unacceptable amounts making it extremely hard to pour and/or drink. Aside from the insanely large frothy head, the body was a lightly hazed golden color.

I found it hard to get a good reading on the aroma since the head was coming out over the glass. Once i removed some of it, there was solid notes of brett. Nice musty, fruitiness. A bit grainy. Slightly earthy. Fruity.

Taste, again, hard to get a good taste. Once the head settled a bit, I got some light pineapple and mango. Some earthyness and a light peppery/spice flavor. Some for-sure notes of brett and a farmhouse flavors. Light grainy flavor with a mild maltiness.

Mouthfeel was great. Bone dry with a huge amount of carbonation and light body.

Overall it was a nice beer but the carbonation was a bit difficult to work around. Once I was able to, I enjoyed the beer and its blend of flavors. ABV was not noticeable either.

Nice yellow hazey hue, with a sticky white head that lines the glass till the last drop. Stinky, horseblanket smell. Sour up front, blue cheese hints, (in my opinion). Not too sour, but just sour enough. Grapefruit hints; I also tasted a slight apricot essence to this beer. Good beer, have to like the brett infused beers though.

750ml bottle, #151/2100. Pours clear straw yellow with a monstrous rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is doughy malts and floral fruity brett with some funk and a little band-aid.

The flavor is sweet bready malts and some slightly tart fruit with some earthy funk and a little brett. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.

Overall, like the Elder Brett I liked this better fresher. Not as fruity and bretty as I remembered.

Bottle (2012)

Acquired via trade
Thanks, quirkzoo!

Slightly hazed light golden and dark straw in color with a very large, tightly bubbled near-white head that lasts and lasts, eventually leaving rings and gobs of sticky lace down the glass. Very pretty.

Earthy aroma with mild grass and hay elements, along with distinct, though not overly strong Brett character.

The flavor too is nice, though very simple. The Brett is present and not overly powerful, along with mild grass and wet straw flavor.

Medium bodied with high carbonation. Incredibly well crafted. Airy and disappearing.

Very nice, somewhat simple Belgian (Brett) pale.

On tap at the brewery. Is there such a thing as too much Brett? This beer might test that notion. The look is standard for a well made saison. Hazy gold with healthy head of white bubbles. The flavor is all over the place. Band-aid and medicinal with a loose, muddy funkiness. Lost is the subtle leather, barnyard, and tropical quality that I normally associate with well made funky beers. I don't know what else to say. There are more flavor descriptors to throw out there, but none would be overly flattering. Not awful, but not worthy of a revisit.

We were lucky enough to try this funky beer on tap at the brewery! Brett Dream pours a hazy peach color, very little head, and minimal lacing. Funky nose! Some sweet malt and pineapple are detectable, with that ever awesome tart sourness dominating the aromas. A very smooth malt profile shines at first, slight citrus hop flavors disappear quickly into the tart finish. Light in body, Brett Dream has a high, almost spritzy, level of carbonation. Mmmmm sour.

Cheers!

This beer pours a really pretty clear golden color with a large inch and a half head. The head retention is great as well.

The aroma is great. Typical brett tones. Citrus, fruity esters, and yeast. Obvious tart notes.

The taste is bumming me a bit. It's not at all what I expected or hoped it would be. It's very subtle. There's a gentle pale malt profile giving some toasted grain. This is followed by a bit of citrus and a very light tart note.

the mouthfeel is medium bodied with a light carbonation.

Overall I'm disappointed. It needs to be renamed, this is no Brett Dream.

funkwerks can do no wrong in my book, but this isnt my personal favorite of theirs. rumored to be an accident with the crooked stave operation, but who knows. pours an insanely carbonated hazy golden honey color with a rapidly rising bone white head. smells a bit yeasty, tropical fruity, sour cherry, and a scaled back brett aroma, less than i thought it might be. flavor is very light, exemplary golden ale. lots of tropical fruit in the finish, and just a touch of sour brett happening there. almost no sweetness at all, and in fact a white winey finish. no hops to speak of, and a mouthfeel that i find detracts from the overall experience. just mega carbonated, makes it go by too quickly and washes out some of the subtle complexities that might otherwise present themselves. very dry as well, which works here. light body. overall a good beer, i will always like what they make, but this one doesnt touch the dark prophet or the tropic king.

1 pt 9.4 fl oz brown glass bottle served in a snifter, reviewed from notes:

A - Pours a murky banana yellow/golden color with 2.5 fingers of fizzy white head. Retention is very good. Inviting.

S - Lemon, clean unrefined barley and pilsner malt, bland yeast, light tart notes, and plain fruity hops notes. I don't actually find too many brett notes; I'm a bit let down by this.

T - Follows the nose closely, unfortunately. The bretts contribute a very light tart funkiness, though it's by no means evident or apparent. Heavy lemon and a strange green apple note that I don't like too much. The hops are similarly simple. I'm really disappointed by this one.

M - Light bodied, airy, highly carbonated, and dry. This, at least, is done very well.

D - I won't be having this again. Ridiculously overpriced, simple, and really just an average beer. It could be good, though in it's current state it's no more than average.

Big thanks to fortsambo for getting some of this out my way, and also for sending along an extra Funkwerks tulip, which this was served in.

Pours an ever-so-slightly hazy straw color with a nice puffy white head of rocky foam. Really nice retention and some ringy lacing on the way down. Nice cap throughout.

The first whiff off the pour brings a pretty-heavy amount of Brett phenolics. Probably too much, as it really takes over everything else. Afterward there is some light pilsner malt alongside a touch of pineapple and citrus rind. The flavor has the same deficiency in the the phenols have really taken over. They're not over the top to the point where it's not enjoyable, but they do mask most of the other components of the beer.

Body is very light and spritzer-like, making it extremely easy to drink. No alcohol whatsoever. Bone-dry finish.

Overall, I really liked the feel, but found the nose and flavor to be a bit too one dimensional, and not with a characteristic that I was a huge fan of. Still, worthy of a try for sure. Love to see this experimentation.

Excited to try a new funkwerks brew! Bottle #0133 of 2100 poured to Duvel tulip. The beer arrives a very hazy orange color with a nice 2 finger white bubbly head, good retention and lacing throughout. The nose is rather mutes really and doesn't have a lot of appeal. Brett funk, hints of citrus and perhaps toast but really not much. It's almost rancid in character. The flavor loses the putrid character in the nose and provides a light fruit flavor with citrus and nectarine qualities, mild bitterness. A mild sweetness from the malt. The funk of the brett again is most dominant. It doesn't seem to work really that well together. Something is a bit off. Likewise the mouthfeel is off, fairly medium bodied but the carbonation deters from the experience. Overall, a disappointment really. Funkwerks makes great beer, this just might be a bad batch.

Picked up a bottle despite the fact that it was $2 more than the regular saison. I just like brett, what can I say? This wasa cloudy yellow color, huge head at first. Smells like brett but not a strong aroma, a little funk, a little citrus, ehh. Flavor was distinctly brett but just didn't do it for me. I guess I have been spoiled by Boulevard Saison Brett and Victory Helios. This was pretty average and completely overpriced. In fact I think the regular Funkwerks saison is better.

A new one from the werks of funk. Pours a murky light, faded orange/rusty color. The head is fantastic with soft white foam, semi-rocky. Slick lacing, splotchy

Funky aroma. Fuzzy peach, barnyard. Faint sour lemon. Some butyric notes. Hmm...

Thankfully the butric vomit stuff stops at the nose. That being said, the flavors just don't pop. The softness of the non-bubbles doesn't help. The peach in the nose is subdued and the lemon is gone. A slight touch of clove and coriander in the finish. Somewhat sweet.

Not a bad beer. It's missing something, either in flavor or feel.
