on-tap at the brewery. also split a 750ml (i think?) at Root Down
bright golden-straw body, hazy with a full creme head. Really exceptional stuff - lots of oak from the barrel, funky bugs, lots of vinous white wine notes, bubblegum, clove and pepper. The rum presence isnt boozy, but rather really compliments the base beer. Best funkwerks beer of the lot, by far.

Pours a slightly hazy, pale, gold with white head and decent retention. The nose features tons of pineapple, mango, and Belgian yeast esters. Notes of clove and spice come through and a hint of booziness towards the end. The rum brings fruit to the table and serves as a supporting cast in the aroma. The taste is a little more rum forward. Sweet boozy notes of candied pineapple come through up front and give way to yeasty notes. Mouthfeel is light bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a unique beer for sure with some nice things going on.

Pours a sandy golden yellow with a big frosty white head. Aroma is big on the rum, woody from the barrel, paired nicely with the base beer offering some banana and apple, slight spiciness too, and lemon. Flavor is somewhat similar with the rum standing out, woodiness from the barrel, on top of the base beer which offered some apple, a little banana, lemongrass, slight spicininess, and a nice grassy finish from some welcome hops. A medium bodied, active mouthfeel. Overall, while I enjoyed the orignal Deceit, I loved this version of it.
