(Formerly known as Quad) Inspired by the Dark Strong beers of Belgium Malt-forward aromas with dark fruit notes, but a dry and balanced finish. Notes of toffee, chocolate, raisins and plums. Pairs poorly with scissors.

Brewed 1/2016, Reviewed 3/2018 ~ 2 yr old bought directly from brewery
Color: Translucent dark reddish brown, tan head, some residual swirls and lacing, smell still lingers
Smell: Chocolate cherry, candi sugar, caramel
Taste: Again, chocolate covered cherry, minor alcohol, bread/malt, sugar, molasses
Feel: A bit resinous but not thick... medium mouthfeel with moderate-soft carbonation
Overall: Can't wait to try again at yr 3. Reminded me why I like quads so much

Slight Lacey head but lacking proper carbonation. Good feel and smell. Strong malts come through nicely.

Poured from a single-serve bottle--bottled date of 11/20/15 so some age...
Appearance--Poured into a tulip with very little head compared to others of the style, but good lacing and "cling." Somewhat lighter than is typical of the style.
Aroma--Dark fruits, especially fig, prominent. Respectable aroma for the style, and particularly good for an American take, but lacking some of the complexity of its Belgian relatives.
Taste--I've accepted that American "takes" on this style are invariably going to be drier and less sweet than their Belgian/original counterparts, and also lacking in some of the classic complexity. This version is consistent with that approach--classic dried fruit sweetness matched with a dry finish, with a strong (but not unpleasant) element from the alcohol, and lacking the bittersweet dark chocolate that I often look for. Still, very comparable in many ways to Boulevard's Sixth Glass "take," (and that is a high compliment) but a bit drier, and with an even more "alcohol forward" note. A bit lacking in complexity in comparison to other American versions, but also less medicinal.
Mouthfeel--Perhaps the best aspect of this take. The extra dryness presents a fine crisp balance, and the carbonation is far better than I expected, given the lack of initial head. Very drinkable notwithstanding the ABV
Overall--A fine American take on the style.

Picked this up in Feb 2015
Pours an effervescent chestnut with a sliver of tan head. Minimal head retention and lacing
S: Fig, not much else
T: Figs, a little leafy hops & cherry. More of the same as this warms, a little booze warmth on the edges, some woody dryness. Finishes with a little booze, some leafy hop & little cherry & fig, plus a little green apple
MF: Medium body, slight carbonation , warming
Drinkable enough, just was hoping for more complexity

Aroma has dark fruit and a little chocolate. Sweetness. Malts and more fruits in the taste with a nice mix of sweetness and a crisp finish. Some yeast. Almost tastes like a chocolaty saison.

On tap at Front Range BBQ in Colorado Springs
Reddish brown body; very little head. Very little scent presented; dull, almost imperceptible malt note. Strong malt sweetness and boozy quality with the taste; brown sugar; roasted nuts. Heavy body; syrupy; sweet finish with an alcohol heat component.
A fair quad, rich and warm though not very complex in the grand scheme of things.

Sweet, Toffee, Fruits, Warming
Formerly known as "Quad," Ten is mahogany in color (slight chill haze at first) with a creamy tan head. Fruity esters, toffee and chocolate in the nose. Its silky, viscous mouthfeel gives way to warming alcohol that flushes across the face. Sweet and malty with big dollop of toffee in the center, followed by ripe dark fruits, dry chocolate and raisiny notes. A touch of soft black pepper and breadiness join the 10 percent alcohol in the linger. Quadalicious.
As reviewed in BeerAdvocate magazine #108 (January 2016).

Aroma is strong malts/bread, Belgian yeast and mild bubblegum. The flavor is Belgian yeast, malts, bubblegum, light fruit and a mix of alcohol, sour, tart and slight funk in the finish.

when i first moved to colorado years ago now, i loved everything these guys did, and would have rated them among the tops in the state. their beers were not only creative, but brilliantly executed, i just loved them, bought everything right when it came out, but something has changed. their latest releases have been lackluster at best, and this quad is a great example of that. hazy reddish brown, i suppose it looks the part alright, not much head to it, some yeast. it smells sweet, not as dark on the grain or half as nuanced as they usually are, and the yeast i see, i dont smell. its bland almost, hardly recognizable as a belgian instead of an american or english strong ale in that regard. i guess its there a little more in the taste, with some fruitiness, but that comes from the malt as well, and is lost a bit to the sweetness of the malt, caramels and brown sugar, a dab of maple, its sweet for sure. it doesnt have the dark bready barley flavor backing it up though, and lacks substance and structure as a result. i have has similar critiques of their other basic belgian styles. not enough carbonation, too sweet, and not at all covering its booze up. not bad, but far from their best...
