Poured into a tulip, nice tight mocha head, pitch black. Smells a bit sweet. Nice, rich, slightly thick mouth feel. Lots of bitter chocolate, maybe getting a bit of the orange with a tingle on the tongue. Decently hoppy for a stout. This being my first Westbrook stout, , color me impressed.

Growler from Piggly Wiggly, Myrtle Beach, poured into a tulip

A- pours a viscous opaque black with a small dark-tan creamy head that retains for a while, eventually reducing to leave just a ring around the edge

S- lots of coffee/fresh espresso aroma up front, underlying notes of chocolate, smoky charred malt, burnt popcorn and a hint of vanilla, can't really pick up any orange aroma

T- Smoky malt gives notes of charcoal and campfire up front, dark sumatra-like coffee notes blend with dark chocolate with a hint of sweet vanilla. The orange is subtle but noticeable near the finish, very reminiscent to an orange nougat filled chocolate. Smoky/burnt malt on the finish with lingers of chocolate and candied orange

M- medium-viscous body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel, eventually finishing creamy and silky, ABV is hidden well

O- The orange flavor plays well, giving it a candied-like flavor. The only thing that held it back a bit for me was the malt was a bit too smoky/charred, which seemed to overpower the subtlety of the orange, otherwise a nice sipper that serves well in growler format

EDIT: As the beer warms, the orange becomes much more prevalent, so I added .25 to my taste score

A: Dark brown to black with almost no transparency like its sucking up light, a black hole. Sporting 2 fingers of dark brown head that fades relatively fast.

S: Kailua, coffee liqueur, dark chocolate, orange and slightly piney hops, milk chocolate, orange candy, lightly fruity.

T: Coffee, chocolate, orange. The first sip says dark chocolate and orange, with a smoky aftertaste and a charred feeling is left on the tongue.

M: Thick chewy body, medium low carbonation.

O: Really well done brew. A little on the dry and dark side as opposed to sweet and milk chocolaty. Well done though. Drank in Summerville, NC, July 4th 2014.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Bottled on 11/26/13.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, citrus zest, and orange liqueur aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder and orange liqueur flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice mixture of cocoa and orange qualities.

The Orange Bliss Stout reminded me a good deal of mexican cake without the spice of the peppers. There is a lot going on in this stout, but the orange & chocolate flavors are not overpowering. Another excellent Westbrook brew. If you are a fan of mexican cake, than you would not be disappointed in the Orange Bliss.
