Bottled 11/4/2013

A - Poured more of a brown color with ruby hues and a minimal light khaki head.

S - The aroma is of tart cherries, oak, light vinegar and an edge of acidity.

T - Tart cherries at first, may'be a bit of green apple. Has a sweetness to it that really balances out the tartness. The red wine comes through at the end with tannins and oak.

M - Light to medium bodied with a low carbonation.

O - It's a great take on the style. Not top tier, but enjoyable to drink.

Thanks to mike d for the share at a local morrisons bottle share. Brew poured a deep rich ruby brown nose isnstandard cherry flanders with a bit of a sharpness that creates an off edge of sour egg. Tadte is a bit more well rounded and classic to style and less sharp and funky than the nose suggested. Leaves a soft aftertaste. Ithe bottle wasnt finished at the bottle share so i corked it and took it home and honestly tastes better on the 2nd day! Not a bad brew but far from the best for e style. Nice cool finish.

Reddish brown and clear with a decent off-white head, which fades to a fizzy ring. Great lacing.

Very tart aroma. Dark fruit. Cherries, raisins. Fantastic aroma. I'm excited to taste this one.

Sour, tart flavor. But, not as much as the aroma lets on. I was expecting a really strong tart flavor that fills up your mouth. But, it was actually a little empty compared to my expectations based on the aroma. I hate to say it, but it's actually a little bit watery in the taste.

Thin bodied mouthfeel with an overall slightly dry finish. It's actually on the sweet side compared to most sours. It doesn't have that dry, dry everlasting finish that most of the really great sours have. Nice carbonation.

I love flanders reds. This one is no exception. I think the flavor was a little dull, and you don't get that really really dry sour finish. But, it was really good anyway and I'm glad I tried it.

A: Poured from the 750 ml into a Duvel tulip. Body is hazy reddish-brown with a small off-white head on top. Some splotchy lace left on the glass.

S: Sweet-tarts. Apple sour candy. Red wine. Wood.

T: Tart candy - sweet-tarts or now and laters come to mind. Apple brandy. Red wine is definitely noted. Tannic wood at the finish. Modest musty-ness. Finishes with a good tartness.

M: Light to medium in heft, carbonation is modest.

O: I generally don't like sour beers, but I can appreciate this one. Splitting the 750 ml is more than enough for me, but unlike some other sours I've had in the past, I'm not choking this one down and reaching for the drain-pour. I suppose that's a backhanded compliment if there ever was one, but for a style that's a bit difficult for me, I'm OK with this.

Served from bottle into Westbrook snifter (proper!). Poured a deep ruby reddish brown with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, sour, tart, wood, cherry, vinegar, funk, and acetic acid. The flavor was of sweet malt, cream, wood, vinegar, sour, tart, fruit, cherry, and oakiness. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. The notes on the nose were quite complex for the style without being overly invasive as some others from this style can tend to be. The flavor was actually quite good with all of the enjoyable notes from the nose only turned up a bit. You definitely know what style this one falls in to upon the first sip. If you don't like sours, avoid this one like your life depends on it. But if you enjoy them, specifically Flanders Reds, get off your ass and find a way to track this one down!
