Appearance: Arrives with a hazy goldenstraw color; the head fritters away quickly with only a few dots of lace

Smell: Wheat bread, sweet and tart lemon; hints of vanilla and coconut

Taste: Pungent lemon, with vanilla, coconut and wheat bread tones; through the finish, the tartness builds

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A really nice Berliner with an intriguing twist

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/30/2015. Bit of a light gusher. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger foamy and fluffy white head with solid retention, that reduces to a spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, citrus peel/zest, orange, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, and grass; with lighter notes of peppercorn, vanilla, coconut, wheat, cracker, white bread, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of lemons, fruity/acidic yeast; and light-moderate coconut, vanilla, pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, citrus peel/zest, orange, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, and grass; with lighter notes of peppercorn, vanilla, coconut, wheat, cracker, white bread, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy lemon, lime, citrus peel/zest, orange, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass; light peppercorn, vanilla, coconut, wheat, cracker, white bread, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of lemons, fruity/acidic yeast; and light-moderate coconut, vanilla, pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with no puckering flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering tartness, fruit tang, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light body; with a very smooth and moderately grainy/acidic/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4%. Overall this is an excellent fruited Berliner weisse. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of lemons, fruity/acidic yeast; and light-moderate coconut, vanilla, pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/drying finish; not overly lactic. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Great balance of vibrant lemons and Lacto complexity; with solid vanilla and pale/wheat malts against acidity. Zero residual sweetness with crisp drying. A very enjoyable offering. Coconut is barely noticeable, but spot on style example otherwise. Held up really well considering the age.

Bottle dated 9/30/15 - just short of 2yrs old
It's been sitting in my beer fridge since early November '15, so I figured it was about damn time! Never had this before but I'm pretty sure a couple years in the bottle changed this thing a bit. Not any distinct coconut flavor but the lemon really shines here. Way more tart than most/all Berliner I've had in the past. Perfect sour pop. It's strange, but this is almost vinous. Cracked this to kick off my official work weekend. Time to play some tunes and relax.

On tap at CBC 2016. Hazy yellow with a tall white head. Peaches, cucumbers, lemons, slightly sour and super refreshing.
