Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: kkipple on 01-04-2011

This beer, inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, is a twist on the classic Belgian witbier style. Instead of the traditional coriander and orange peel spicing regimen, we add fresh lemongrass, ginger root, and a dash of Sorachi Ace hops. The result is a wonderfully refreshing ale with notes of lemon candy, citrus fruit, and a slight spiciness from the ginger. Best served at 45˚F in a tulip or wine glass.

Poured from 12oz can into a weizen glass.

Appearance: light, silvery-golden hue with a moderate haze and light effervescence. Head poured a thin layer of frothy white foam. Not too bad.

Smell: lightly refreshing wheaty aroma with a relatively light spicing. Orange peel is definitely evident. Mild, but decent.

Taste: wheaty taste with a bit of a soapy spicing, although the orange peel certainly adds a little bitterness. Well-made, but pretty run-of-the-mill.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: a perfectly competent witbier, it does take on a bit more bitter orange than I usually like. Still, it's quite drinkable. Worth a try.

Out of a can at the pool

Tastes like a regular Belgian. Maybe a little interesting hop coming through, but nothing to out of the ordinary.
