Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer, inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, is a twist on the classic Belgian witbier style. Instead of the traditional coriander and orange peel spicing regimen, we add fresh lemongrass, ginger root, and a dash of Sorachi Ace hops. The result is a wonderfully refreshing ale with notes of lemon candy, citrus fruit, and a slight spiciness from the ginger. Best served at 45˚F in a tulip or wine glass.

On tap at The Owl House in Rochester, NY.

Pours a clear straw yellow, with a one inch head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells like lemon, citrus, wheat, and spicing.

I don't particularly know what lemongrass smells like, but there some indistinguishable spice flavor in here, so I'm guessing that's the lemongrass I'm tasting. Some mild ginger, with some very subtle wheat bitterness, strong lemon flavors (likely from the Sorachi Ace hops), other citrus, some orange and grapefruit. Subdued yeast flavors.

Nicely creamy mouthfeel, while still being fairly crisp at all. Medium carbonation. Light bodied.

This was alright. Witbiers aren't my favorite style, but like most Westbrook beers, it was executed well.

I purchased this can at Oliver's in Albany NY, enjoyed chilled in a goblet.

The color is a dull straw golden with wheat haze and thick bone white head of 3 fingers with fine bead with sticky lace. The smell is of coriander and a light wheat scent with mild herbal tinge and gentle citrus accent. The feel is very good with deep malt balanced by mild spice and medium high carbonation with yeast adding to the semi-dry earthy finish.

The taste is very good with tons of malt in the initial taste and gentle creaminess from the yeast which also adds a light fruit element with nice toasted flavor coming through and gentle tangy wheat quality throughout with mellow spice. Overall I enjoyed this -very good interpretation of the style and pretty yeasty with very good drinkability.
