Style | ABV
American IPA |  6.80% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
A base of pale, Munich, and Carapils malts is just enough to contain the massive hop flavor and aroma packed into this highly drinkable IPA. A blend of four American hop varieties is added four times in the kettle and twice in the fermentor for a complex and layered hop experience. Best served at 45-50˚F in a tulip or English style pint glass.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a willibecher. This was canned on 02/27/14.

Appearance: Pours a very hazy, medium amber and leaves a 2 finger, very sticky, white head that lingers for a long while before leaving a puffy layer atop the beer, leaving a lot of lacing.

Smell: Resin out first, followed by some citrus notes, citrus rinds, malts, a hint of pepper. Nice, subtle aroma.

Taste: Matches the smell really well. Resin, hint of pine, citrus, citrus rinds, malts. Tasty, well balanced and mild. ABV is well hidden.

Mouth-feel: Medium carbonation with a medium, creamy body. Finishes smooth.

Overall: This is a very easy drinking, well balanced IPA. I have a feeling that if this were a bit fresher it would be more hop dominant. The hops and malts are very balanced in this one, and it goes down very easy.

Poured into a Sam Adams goofball glass. Finished a Westbrook Gose just 10 minutes before pouring this one.

Appearance: Looks dope. Very nice Werther's Original color. Cloudy, unfiltered, as most beers really should be.

Smell: It's a nice, funky, somewhat atypical American IPA smell. Has hints of English style IPA, such as lightly earthy, lemongrass scents. I also get light orange, and a little more pine. There's a lemon cupcake thing going on that I like.

Taste: The aroma carries into the taste pretty well. More malty than the most common IPAs. Very nice doughy malt character. Lemon, coriander.

Mouthfeel is awesome. Medium-Thick body, lingers a good while with that lemon cupcake flavor. Not so thick that I couldn't have a few.

Overall: This beer has reignited me. Can't wait to take a split 6 of this and Gose down the river in a tube this summer! Boy oh boy, life is good. This beer reminds you of that.

A- My can poured a retarded amount of head, not even worth measuring. So that is why I docked some points on A. Medium golden, white fluffy head.

S- The nose is dulled down big time for me. I am getting some citrus faintly.

T- The taste is really great, but muted like the nose. I am not a huge IPA guys, so when the hop profile is tuned down a bit and some citrus takes the forefront, I am a big fan!

M- Very very smooth with a waxy feel to it. My mouth is coated in that wax feeling some beers gives you.

O- I thought this was a great IPA, very sessionable.

A: Cloudy-hazy, light orange-yellow in color. Forms a fairly large, fluffy, off-white head. Decent retention. Moderate lacing.

S: Pleasantly aromatic. Mostly citrus. Grapefruit and orange. Not incredibly juicy, but certainly citrus forward. Lighter notes of pine. Some light malts.

T: Taste is all hops and that isn't a bad thing. Again mostly citrus, orange, grapefruit, tangerine. But the pine comes through more in the taste than it does in the aroma. A bit of resin and spice on back end.

M: Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Moderate-to-heavy carbonation. Somewhat prickly in the mouth.

O: A very nice, hop forward IPA available at a very reasonable price.
