Style | ABV
American IPA |  6.80% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
A base of pale, Munich, and Carapils malts is just enough to contain the massive hop flavor and aroma packed into this highly drinkable IPA. A blend of four American hop varieties is added four times in the kettle and twice in the fermentor for a complex and layered hop experience. Best served at 45-50˚F in a tulip or English style pint glass.

Served in a pint. Canned 6/25.

A - Pours a crisp orange hue with a sizable off-white head. Impressive retention and quality lacing.

S - Nice aromatic hops with a slight caramel sweetness. Touch of lemon.

T - Biscuit flavored malts serve as a stage for loads of hops and tropical fruits. Fruits include: pineapple, grapefruit, mango and lemon. Nice stuff.

M - Large body for an AIPA. Not overbearing, although recedes as the hop profile takes over.

O - A solid brew from Westbrook that I will be inserting into my AIPA rotation. Retains the refreshing nature of AIPA's while adding something a little different. Honestly, this is far better than their bombers. Cheaper too!

Canned 07/12/13 (yesterday!)

Hazy golden orange with a small, creamy head that ends up a fine, white covering. Fresh, spicy grapefruit and pine resin...candied, fruity, and resinous. Hoppy taste: zesty citrus, tropical fruit, sap, floral notes...very tasty and fresh. Bitter, medium body. Great stuff. The guy I spoke to said they went back to an older recipe (hop-wise) with this batch. I don't know what the last batches were like, but this is terrific.

12oz can that I received in a trade with Skrip, thanks man. First off the can design is just great, perfect shade of green and the label is awesome. Color is hazed orange, good head. Aroma is hoppy but weird. Flavor is fruity hops and slightly bitter but also has this weird flavor from the malts that throws me way off. Not a bad IPA but my friends enjoyed it more than i did.

Poured from a can into my Westbrook snifter/tulip.
Appearance is slightly cloudy but still sunny orange. The aroma is every sweet hop smell you crave: mostly floral with slight hints of grass, grapefruit and pine. There's a slight hint of booze fusels and sweetness from the Munich malt.
Taste is upfront hops; more bitterness than 60 IBUs suggest, but still very smooth. Hop flavor is mostly citrus, slightly different than the smell. SO MUCH hop flavor.
I've been in Charleston for 5 days now and have been drinking this consistently, and mostly from the can. This beer loses nothing when drank straight from the can. In fact, the aroma is more pronounced. The brewery could almost make the same claim as Heady Topper and implore people to drink straight from the can.
Overall, this may be the best regular IPA I've ever had. It's more balanced than a citrus bomb and the drinkability is very high. Much lighter than you'd expect from 6.8% ABV. This is one of two beers Westbrook cans and is available almost everywhere in the Charleston area. This is not a special release IPA and beats most breweries' special releases by a mile.

Hazy amber color with an ok head with short retention.
Delicious citrus aroma of grapefruits and hints of resin and pine.
Malty flavor that is overcome by its bittering and fruity hops. Hints of grapefruits, pine and hop resins. Dry with a long last bitterness.
Medium body with medium carbonation and tiny bubbles.
Great IPA, if it makes me sneeze as it did it is a good indication. Seems bitter than its 60 IBU indicates. For hopheads like myself.

A: Pours a hazed orange color. A two finger white head forms with good retention. A coating of lace is left all the way down the glass.
S: Perfume like hops all over the place. Very fruity as well. Grapefruit, pineapple, mango. Orange and lemon rind. Very floral. The hops just won't quit, so many things going on.
T: Follows the nose with that great perfume like fruitiness. Grapefruit and pineapple all day. Maybe a bit of cracker like biscuit malts. Again, a ton of hop flavor is packed into here. A bit more of a resiny bitterness lingers though.
M/D: A medium body with crisp, effervescent carbonation. Very dry and clean. Easy and enjoyable to drink.

I need to get a few six packs of this before I head to the beach. A great hoppy IPA that is bursting with flavor.
