Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: thagr81us on 01-04-2011

A base of pale, Munich, and Carapils malts is just enough to contain the massive hop flavor and aroma packed into this highly drinkable IPA. A blend of four American hop varieties is added four times in the kettle and twice in the fermentor for a complex and layered hop experience. Best served at 45-50˚F in a tulip or English style pint glass.

Pours a very cloudy dark gold color with a ton of sediment floating around; so much sediment that it looked like the bottom half of a bottle fermented Belgian bomber. It had a nice foamy 1 finger off white head that was full of bubbles and faded slowly, leaving OK spotty lacing and rings as it went down, leaving a white layer on top.

Wow, smells of fresh grapefruit, lemon zest and piney hops up front, followed by caramel, light malt, orange peel and a blast of pineapple. The citrus hops dominate, especially the fruity notes of the pineapple and grapefruit.

Tastes like it smells, with grapefruit, lemon zest, pineapple, piney hops, caramel, toasted grains, orange peel, graham cracker and a lightly spicy ending that had some cinnamon or brown sugar and pepper in the mix. The citrus hops are fresh and the fruity notes work well with the malty backbone for a complex flavor and very good balance. After each sip it seems the balance gets better and this is very sessionable and easy to drink.

Mouthfeel is slick and smooth with a medium to almost chewy body, mild carbonation and a slightly bitter grapefruit-like finish that trails off sweet with nice cracker accents.

Overall a damn good beer that borders on great. An all purpose IPA that is easy drinking and hides the ABV perfectly. I highly recommend this beer as it’s a textbook flavorful IPA out of a can.

Smell: great floral hop presence
Appearance: light hazy yellow
Taste: floral hoops upfront, nice malt base, followed with a bitter finish
Overall: nice floral hop IPA with a decent amount of malt sweetness. Could use a little more malt to balance out the bitterness in the aftertaste. Solid beer. Worth a try
