Growler courtesy of McNuts.
Beautiful black pour, tan head, sticky lace. Fantasticly complex aroma showcases the various ingredients, particularly vanilla & chiles. Reminds me of Hunahpu, and that's a serious compliment.
Chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, chiles, roasty malt, and boozy warmth melt together to present a remarkably balanced flavor profile. Peppers and chocolate linger after swallowing. Super complex, yet it works. Again, comparisons to Huna dance in my head.
A fantastic example of creativity in the American craft brewing scene. More please!

3/7/2013 bottle. Black, brown gray head. roasty, bitter chocolate, semi sweet, some cinnamon and licorice. Spicy/hot after taste which I personally do not approve of. First sips are great, but the spice takes over and masks flavor for me after a while, for me a huge minus.

The beer pours out in a black color with a espresso looking foamy head.
The aroma is huge an delicious. Sweet roasty malt, vanilla, spice of the cinnamon. Tons of sweet chocolate.
The first thing that you get is the creamy espresso mouthfeel. It's absolutely amazing.
Then the flavor hits you with a bittersweet chocolate with some interesting spice. Then the spiciness hits that hits the middle back of your mouth and then towards the front end of your throat. It's spicy and tingly, but not offensive. It's middling and works with the chocolate very well.
It cleans up quite well with the spiciness and reminds of Imperial Biscotti with its chocolate and wonderful creamy mouthfeel.
A very interesting and exciting beer.
