A- Pours an extremely hazy, light orange to light golden in color, and has a big, dense, frothy head. The head retains for long while and lacing is good. So hazy in the glass, it looks like someone stirred wheat into suspension in this beer.
S- The first flavor that hits the nose is a bit of strong saltiness. Then it moves toward a citric, lemony sour flavor. Sour and salt dominate for much of the drink before easing towards the end to reveal a little bit of light wheat graininess. Almost has a pickle-like scent.
T- Follows the scent pretty closely for the most part. Salty on the beginning, but that is brief and quickly followed by the tart flavors. Still a little lemony, but also a little lactic and stronger, like a lambic. The salty and sour flavors intermingle, providing an interesting flavor. Ends with a lingering tart and salty flavor, and a grainy wheat makes a small comeback after you finish the drink.
M- This one feels like a Berliner Weiss or an American wheat ale as far was weight goes. Medium level of tart flavors remind me of more lambic then Berliner. This one is a little thicker, and relatively lower in carbonation, making for a quenching experience on the palate.
Overall, a pretty solid example of the style. More sour and salty than others that are similar, this one is a great American version of an old German style.
