This is our interpretation of Gose (pronounced “Gose-uh”), a traditional German-style sour wheat beer brewed with coriander and salt. Once nearly extinct, this very refreshing style is making a comeback.

a: Hazy pale straw color; poured with a short lived, fizzy head.

s: Lemony lactic tartness... and more lemony lactic tartness. Maybe some coriander and wet grains.

t: Very different from Leipziger, my only other gose experience. Lots of puckering, lactic tartness that is vaguely lemony. The salt comes through, not sure about the coriander.

m: A bit heavy and fairly still.

o: Kind of one dimensional, but what a dimension!

12oz can into a snifter. This was thrown in as an extra in a trade. Thanks, Jeff!

A - Pale yellow/orange with a half finger of white head which went away quickly.

S - This is unique. I'd describe it as carbonated lemonade with salt and pepper. It's like the ocean with lemon.

T - Tart and lemony. Salty taste is not off-putting at all. Very refreshing.

M - Lots of carbonation. Pretty light.

O - I haven't had a lot of beers of this style, but man is this good. Fruity and tart with that hint of salty flavor and they all blend nicely.

Can courtesy of Knifestyles.

A: Bright, brackish dark yellow with a small white head.

S: Smells very citrusy with some earthy/hard water/saline notes, a bit of wheat.

T: Mineral, moderate citrusy acidity, a bit of herb, sweet clean wheat, more lactic sourness.

M: Almost bone-dry with that gum-clinging acidity, although it's not too strong. Creamy body.

O: Really nice gose, well balanced without softening on the acidity.

Bottle from michaeljstraub in trade. Thank you!! Pours an attractive hazy yellow gold color. Smell is mainly wheat with a hint of tartness and lemon like brightness peaking through. Taste is significantly tart, then wheaty and I’m not certain I pick out any saltiness. Body is full, and prickly carbonation. Perfect mouthfeel and very drinkable and refreshing. This is actually quite sour and very enjoyable.
