This is our first test-batch of a new year-round beer that will be coming out this summer. It is based on a blend of our Single Hop series of beers we came out with this past year (Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin and Citra).

A: Pretty light amber color and clear enough to see all the tiny little rising carbonation bubbles. Head is decent in size, but I have to admit working for it with the growler pour. It's creamy white in color and compromised of fine bubbles. Lace doesn't stick around very much but spots shift around.

S: Aroma is brisk and dry with a nice bready base. Earthy, farmy, and grassy with a definite rye smell all sprinkled with light colored fruit.

T: Flavors are a good match. Sweet with yummy malt and miscellaneous pitted fruits, bitter with rye.

M: Slick and dry texture in one. Carbonation is fine and at a good level. Light body approaching medium and very easy to drink. Has a nice swirlable in the mouth quality.

O: Quite enjoyable. This is a good go to beer. (767 characters)

Pours a hazy orange-gold with a nice white head that settles to a slight haze, leaving spotty lacing. Very fresh hop aromas (brewed with Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, and Citra) of tangerine, peach, passion fruit, and papaya. Light malt profile, with just a touch of bite from the rye. Taste is similar, lots of crisp tropical hops, smooth malt, a touch of rye, and a mildly bitter finish. Incredibly drinkable, and a great hop melange overall. Smooth and crisp, with a medium-thin body and ample carbonation. A fabulous addition to the year-round line-up, I cannot wait to see this in cans! (586 characters)

From Piggly Wiggly (Northbridge)

Thought I was getting the One Claw, but the growler is labeled "New Rye", so I guess it's this one. Regardless, this was the test batch for One Claw, so I'll see how it compares to how I remember that one...

Pours a hazy blonde color covered with a tall head that eventually sinks down to a clumpy topping. Patches of lace are plastered to the glass. Deep spicy rye, orange, and lime aromas. A light sprucy earthiness too. Big fruity hops, rye bite, peaches, light woody herbs, lemon. Less rye than the smell. Not sure how old this is, but it's still hanging onto that hop flavor. I recall One Claw being a little oilier, though not all that different. Medium bodied, fairly crisp, yet chewy. Glad I snagged some of this. (756 characters)
