Appearance: Pours a hazy goldenstraw with a modest head that leaves a few dots behind

Smell: Rather tart, with wheat and lemon tones

Taste: Lemony, up front, with the wheat flavors building and a touch of lime arriving in the middle; finishes very dry and tart

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate carbonation and a puckery quality

Overall: A very nice example of a Berliner Weisse; just so easy to drink

Thanks to dogdoc for sending this bottle! Reviewed from notes. Poured from 750 mL bottle into a Peg's snifter glass.

A: Light straw in color, very hazy, with a thin white head that doesn't stick around for long. Significant amount of visible carbonation.

S: Tart lemony citrus, a bit funky, with wheat malt and citric and lactic acid tartness.

T: Follows essentially exactly - maybe a touch less citrus than the nose. This has serious lactic bite and acidity. In the hang, it's quite dry and the lactic tartness lasts for a few beats.

M: Light body, great champagne-like carbonation sensation, and no alcohol presence.

O: This is a pretty tasty base berliner. But it tastes like they may have added lactic acid, rather than allowing the souring to occur naturally. It doesn't have a depth or texture to the tartness and funk - but that's about all this is missing.

Thanks to JISurfer for hooking me up with this. 750ml into a westbrook snifter. The brew appears a perfectly clear golden yellow color with a white finger that slowly fades. Rising bubbles maintain a thin film across the top.

The aroma is bright with a fruity lemony lactic character. A little bit of sweet smelling fresh grains like wheat and/or crackers. More smells bring a focus of fruit back in the picture thats not just lemony but also a bit like pear or apple.

The flavor is tart and lemony lactic with a bit of bready grain, somewhat cereal-like or bready/crackerish but provides a freshness about it without any supporting sweetness. Like the nose suggested, more sips bring out a deeper fruity quality like pear/apple. The apple flavor is pretty solid but never gets to feeling like cider which is a good thing.

This is a light bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is clean, snappy, fresh, inviting and overall very easy drinking. After having a couple different brews by Westbrook that are in the same vein as berliners per say, I can firmly state im a fan of these guys and they really know what they are doing. The beer is pale golden with a thick, hissing, white head that fades rapidly. The aroma brings lemons, grass, grain. A decent amount of tartness with some acidity in the finish. Pleasant puckering mouth feel. Light in body with ample carbonation. A solid example of the style.

Poured a hazy gold with a short-lived head of airy, crackling foam on the surface. Aromas of tart, juicy lemon, wort-like grain and wheat, and some subtle berries. Big, tart, juicy flavor...lemon, a faint cereal grain sweetness, and lime. Light bodied and effervescent with a puckering quality that leaves the gums dry. Refreshing, crisp, sour, lemony, dry as fuck. Very enjoyable sitting outside at a picnic table on a late summer evening.
