We drank this side by side with AB Hunapu and this was far and above the better beer.
I think you need to do this type of comparison to really appreciate how well executed this beer really is. Yes, it appeared a bit sweet, but if it hadn't been I don't believe that you would have tasted the apple brandy to it's fullest.

We had reg Mexi with AB (going off of memory from last night)
A- Pitch black with minimal lacing. Very little gumming on the glass when swirled.
S- Very very sweet smelling. The AB takes over, leaving very little base spice.
T- Just extremely sweet that overpowers the base beer. The AB is so dominant that the spices are only tasted waaaay in the back when at room temp.
M- Very smooth, nice AB sting.
O- The five of us had reg next to AB; and we all would have rather gone with the reg over the AB. I guess I am glad to have knocked this one off; nothing special here
