Monk’s Tripel has a thin, white head, a sort of hazy, gold-yellow appearance, some murky-ness, and a thin amount of lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, bright citrus, white bread, alcohol, and an overall champagne smell. Taste is of sweet, bright fruits, citrus, champagne, and alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium, prickly, and a bit slick, and Monk’s Tripel finishes crisp, boozy, and interesting. Overall, I think it is worth a try.

Monks' Tripel

Pours a light perfectly clear gold. Bone white head forms and recedes away to a wisp. Aromas of Belgian yeast, mild floral notes and malt sweetness. In the taste, mildly fruity and pear like Belgian yeast, candi sugar, moderately sweet with a fairly strong presence of alcohol. Definitely a tripel in style, with mildly spicy yeast notes, pale malt sweetness, and some kick to it. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, well carbonated, slightly thin. Overall, not a bad beverage definitely worth trying, nice to see some new product from Abbey Bev.

Poured into a new Belgium chalice, color is gold, clear, head is bright white and leaves some lacing.

aroma is mild booze, subtle malt, and light bread, some yeast off flavors

taste is a touch maltier, then some lighter booze than the aroma, then some yeast phenols, touch of apricot and citrus like fruitiness

mouthfeel is very neutral for such a strong ale, nice lingering malt flavor and drying presence from the fermentation

Poured from a bomber into a snifter glass light golden with light head.
Aroma is esters & fruits
Flavor is sweetly bitter bananas. Lemon?
Plenty of carbonation.
Overall a better than average Tripel.

Sweet, heavy and some spice. Alcohol plays a role in the flavor in the not the most subtle of way. Decent but nothing special.

um, yellow pour, no head. lifeless in the tulip glass and I have to lie the bottle sideways in the refrigerator because it's too darned tall.
smell is bland- cross between a crummy pilsner, a crummy ipa and an attempt to be a Belgian ale.
taste is okay. a little harsh, a little alcohol burn. certainly nowhere near spectacular. I wouldn't buy it again.
overall, I was fooled by the marketing. i'm okay trying something new and spending a little cash but this is theft. it was like $10 for this bottle at Total Wine and quite prominently displayed in front of the aisle. I DID have a sneaking suspicion that they were trying to get rid of it, but at $10 I figured it would be decent. cant trust anyone these days....
update on the 2nd half of this bottle.... I threw it away....

appearance: Rich gold color ale, zero carbonation. It took a vigorous pour to produce a couple of fingers of white foam. I guessed that it would fade quickly, but managed to stay for a decent amount of time. Minimal lacing.

smell: Nearly non-existent. Repeated passes with the nose give rise to ginger-ale, florals, grassy undertones.

taste: Different. Someone one here said it tasted like a mix of corn adjunct pilsners and Belgian style ale, and that's not a bad description. Almost get a sugary impression, as if the yeast was unable to complete the fermentation process.

mouthfeel: Watery, with a sweet cloying aftertaste. Not wholly unpleasant, but it's not the spicy bracing finish I've come to expect from the style.

overall: Disappointing. I'm willing to accept that the brothers at Abiqui need time to settle into their new profession, and given that their monks? A little grace is in order. This is a good effort. Just needs time to perfect.

Aroma of fruit
Head large (5 cm), white, frothy, diminishing to 3 mm ring and broken layer
Lacing fair –partial wide rings of tiny to small bubbles
Body light gold, clear, continually rising bubbles
Flavor fruity with some tail end alcohol; no hops, no diacetyl
Palate light to medium, watery, lively carbonation
