Poured a bomber into a Pilsner glass. Reviewed from notes.

A- Way too overcarbonated, 3/4 head when poured in a Pilsner glass. When it settled it was a cloudy light orange color. Not bad considering.

S- Wheaty, hoppy, not terribly complex or nice smelling. Kind of musty.

T- Bitter taste. Yeasty and heavy wheat. Not well developed.

M- Too syrupy, not a fan.

O- Way too many things went wrong with this beer. Unfortunate because I love Hefeweizens.

Draft at brewpub. This one too is a bit underwhelming. Faint aroma, grains pick up in taste, very cracker and biscuits. Kind of dry, a little honey sweetness. This one could go either way, but I didn’t like it as much as the first two.

This is a decently enjoyable beer and seems to me be one of the better Tied House beers, which generally are very unimpressive to me.

Hazy pale gold, it had an enormous white head filling the glass, steadily shrinking to puffy head and foamy lace.

Aroma was very perfumy grain, soap, cheese, metal - ok and a bit off-putting and almost overpowering in an unpleasant way.

Taste is much better, if still not great. It has lemony juicy grain, dryish fresh white bread finish. It's very simple, a bit rough, but enjoyable and interesting enough. feel is a bit thin and light but not overly so.

The brew poured a massive head that dissipated quickly with nice lacing. Golden hazy coloring with a yeasty nose. Mellow dry carbonation on the tongue, with a light yeast and citrus taste.

Definitely drinkable, perfect for a hot day.

A recommended brew.

Appearance - Pours a hazy light golden orange with a big, frothy, soap bubble-like 2 finger head. Good retention. Resulting lace is thick and somewhat sticky.

Smell - Strong lemon aromas, and sitting behind this are spicy and smokey notes - it all comes together smelling like a sour, lemony chipotle aroma. Eh.

Taste - Follows the nose. Big lemon notes upfront and throughout, with a big smokey character which, from what I can only imagine, is from smoked malts. Mid-taste a bit of bitter lemon rind springs forth and makes itself noticeable. Finishes with a bit of smoke and that lingering lemon bitterness. Unfortunately the lemon/smoke combo is too cloying, and makes for a flavor profile that's not very enjoyable.

Mouthfeel - Lightly bodied, with a good amount of soft carbonation, leaving a decent tingle on the lips.

Overall - It's certainly pushes the boundaries of what a wheat beer is, but unfortunately not in a positive direction. I give 'em points for trying, but if this is my craft brew, it doesn't get released to the public while it's flaws are so glaring. Let this be a lesson: boldness does not always equal good.

Note: Whoever submitted this beer miscategorized it. This is not a hefe, but rather an APWA. The brewery itself does not categorize this a hefe.

Cloudy golden colored beer with a massive white colored head.

Smell is spicy and metallic with a mostly clove aroma. Not a distinct hop scent here, just herbal and soapy.

Starts out mildly sweet with a cloves and buckwheat flavor, taste a bit like Soba noodles. Little bit creamy on the tongue.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall don't know that I would call this a Hefeweizen. This is really move of an American Wheat Beer.

A-Pours light hazy amber with an inch of flully eggshell white head. Deflates gradually, leaving spidery lacing.

S-Pale sweet malts. Much sweeter than the style usually dictates. Grainy.

T/M-Watery, a little hoppy. Some light flavors of lavender and dried flowers. Wheat flavors come through a little bit in the finish, but that's about it. All over the place. A watery, disjointed mess.

O-Nope.

Bomber poured into a pint glass, $2.49 at BevMo, which opens with a firm release of carbonation. The pour is an overabundance of foam atop a hazed golden pour. This is NOT a Lost Abbey beer by any means. Glistening and porous white cap breaks down slowly and leaves rich lacing as the crazy cap settles down. Nice but a bit too rambunctious in nature.

Nose of lemony wheat along with some accompanying spice notes and a hint of sourness from the wheat malt.

Full bodied in flavor with a lightly coarse and bready wheat character and a firm carbonation. Touch of lemon and orange on the finish along with a pepper and coriander spice. Bit of sweetness is present but well balanced.

Note: Brewed/bottled in San Jose and viewed as an American Pale Wheat Ale. Carbonation is a bit too much and needs to be throttled back a bit, otherwise a rather pleasant experience.

i got this 22oz from my local bevmo. I am always on the lookout for new wheat beers, so that attracted me plus the price, $2.99. It poured a hazy yellow orange, with a thin, frothy head. Being an American-style Hefeweizen i expected no banana or clove. But i did get a bit of a yeasty aroma with hints of citrus. The taste wasnt very complex as per the style. A bit citrusy, bready with a slightly dry finish. Medium- high Carbonation. Lots of little champagne like bubbles. All in all a pretty good example of the style.
