Color: pours clear, golden light brown. sits a slightly hazy, dark copper with a thin tapioca head that dissipates to nearly nothing
Smell: rich maltiness with lots of caramel and dark fruit, most notably some concord grape. light melanoidins and even light hop presence
Taste: very rich maltiness with lots of fruity esters including dark fruit. lots of caramel and bready sweetness with only a hint of hop flavor and well concealed alcohol. finish is rich in bready sweetness and caramel with some fruit and very light hop flavor and bitterness
Mouthfeel: chewy, full-medium body with medium carbonation
Notes: great scotch ale. this is my second FI brew and so far they are 2/3 (the Castle Bravo was bad but obviously due to a mistake, not recipe). would have liked to see a little smokey/peatiness - that would have set it up a notch or two

22oz brown bomber with no freshness date or abv listed.
Decent topping of head, amber going on garnet for color. Pleasant whiff of malt, a few more sniffs and it reveals more layers of maltiness and a clean alcohol. Smooth and very creamy full body. Lots of malt getting thrown at the palate even off a small sip, impressive though after a while the alcohol does come around ... not a bad thing but its not so hidden. Toasty sweet, bready, mild caramel and a bit grassy. Quick kiss of hops, some yeast in the back-end. Sweet malty toasty finish.
A good run at the style, alcohol is either way up there or it is a bit too warm for its size. Regardless, this one is an easy slow sipper.

22 oz. Hazy golden amber pour, about a finger of off white head. Shrinks to a layer, retains all right.
Aroma is a little musty, toffee underneath. That lagery scent that I still haven't had someone explain to me, something in the yeast they used I guess?
Taste is malty, leathery, light red fruit. Fair dose of raisin. Normal to have nothing balancing the sweetness, but there just seems like there could be more.
I thought the carbonation was just a tad high, or maybe just a bit more body would help. Either way very easy to drink. Abv can't be above 6.
This would fit much better in the Scottish Ale category.

Very carbonated on the tongue, and fruity like sparkling cider, which is quite beguiling. So beware, it goes down easy. Sweet but not syrupy. Toffee flavors fill the maltiness. Toast and caramel apples in the nose. Some hops flower in the murky mouthful. Long aftertaste of burnt raisins and sweet vermouth. Nose is fruitcake and a touch of smoke. Quite pleasant slurping this hot, malty stuff. Just a touch of hops to keep it from getting too insipid.
