The Brew Ridge Trail Collaboration between Blue Mountain, Wild Wolf, and Devils Backbone and brewed at Wild Wolf.. An imperial witbier with honey, pear, and Nelson Sauvin hops. The growler is from Wild Wolf.

A: The witbier is a lighter straw color, appropriately hazed over and opaque. A beautiful white head comes with each pour - a half finger generally but surprisingly no lacing follows.

S: The nose is fortified, a combination of pear sweetness, curacao and peppers, spry wheat, and the delicious citrus blast of Nelson Sauvin. The higher strength of the beer never gets in the way of the myriad aromas.

T: For the strength and melange of additives, the witbier doesn't have a strong imperial mouthfeel. The lightness of the wheat still manages to come through with faint tartness. The pear flavors are strong, fruity sweet, and go well with a strong peppery coriander body. Honey helps to firm up the body and doesn't linger around to add much flavor. The Nelson Sauvin hops deliver some lemony citrus zing, a bite that is strongest near the end of each sip. A musty yeastiness crops up near the end of each sip, not quite funky but with enough of a twist to end things nicely.

M: What seems heavy handed is in fact quite complimentary. The honey props up the wheat, the pear eggs on the coriander, the curacao coaxes the Nelson Sauvin. A very nice beer from three good breweries.
