This place is definitely off the beaten path being at the end of an alley in San Francisco's financial district/union square. I would of never found it if I weren't following other people.

Atmosphere: the atmosphere is great because you feel like you're in a real Irish pub in Ireland.

Quality: quality is also great because they have a wide range of beers to choose from like Deschutes mirror pond, Lagunitas IPA, Widmer Nelson Imperial IPA, of course Guinness and Smithwicks and some Belgian beers. They also have the right glass for the beer so they know how to properly serve it.

Service: I ranked service so low because everyone working the night I went was being very rude. We tried to do simple things like order at the bar so they told us to order at our table when someone else working there told us to order at the bar and we told the bartender that someone else told us to order at the bar he scowled at us and told us again to order at our table. The waitress refused to split our bill so we got one huge bill at the end and she also told us to keep credit cards to a minimum. I tried getting a beer when I ran out of cash and the bartender told me there's a $10 minimum before I can use my credit card so I got cash from my sister.

Selection: see Quality

Food: the food was good. More Irish pub grub like shepherds pie. I got the fish and chips which I enjoyed very much.

Value: Other than the service everything else was good. The shots were a bit pricey but that's usual. $7 for one shot of Jameson's kind of blew my mind but I never really order hard liquor so I don't know how pricey it can get.

I'd go back only to get nostalgic about being back in a pub in Ireland again.

Summary: An adequate choice when staying in the seemingly beer bar void Financial District.

I'm all for choice. While the Irish Bank wouldn't be my first (the Rogue Public House in North Beach is considerably better, but a bit of a walk) sometimes I want something that's decent and close to where I typically stay when in town. This place fits the bill. Irish pub feel (what did you expect?) it can get very small on a busy night. A hand full of slightly better than average taps won't wow you with diversity, but will do the job when you want a decent pint and a bite to eat. Good service the times I've been there. Same goes for the food, which is Irish pub grub with a bit of variety.

Would I return? I would and I have. Again, don't expect too much, but if you're in this part of town, the selection can be slim.
