I'm pretty psyched that my local was added to BA and I get to be the first reviewer.

The Oakmont is a corner, neighborhood pub in the middle of Havertown. It's a converted bank with a bar running the length of one side of the room and a row of booths on the other side. There is an also a patio which is great in the summer time. They also bring in heat lamps for the colder months.

The beer selection is great for an area dominated by BMC and Guinness. The tap selection is always rotating. They usually have something from Sierra Nevada, Dogfish Head, and Victory on tap. But, I've seen taps from Lagunitas, Stone, and Smuttynose to name a few others. I'm never at a loss for a good pint there. Sure, you can get BMC, Guinness, and Harp too, but why would you?

Service is pretty good. The bartenders are busy but they do a good job covering the area. The waitresses all seem to have worked their for a long time. They do a good job even when the restaurant is busy.

The food is decent. It's standard pub food with a smattering of pretty good pasta dishes. I usually stick to cheesesteaks (a solid version) or the hot roast beef sandwich (a real value at $6.95). My wife swears by the chicken marsala.

All in all, the Oakmont is not a beer geek destination, but it's a friendly neighborhood joint to grab a bite to eat and a good beer or two.

Oakmont was my local pub in Havertown. They have a good amount of microbrews on tap. Friendly staff, good beer, good times. I could always rely on trying new beers there. Oakmont is my favorite pub in Havertown. If you are ever in Havertown, I recommend Oakmont Pub.

This is my hometown pub. Not huge but a decent size. Oakmont doesn't have a huge selection of beer on tap, but what they do have is quality. Was lucky enough to polish off the keg of DFH 120 minute one night (Halloween). The food is good wholesome pub food. Great burgers and amazing carved sandwiches. Oakmont is a great place to sit down with an old friend, watch a game and enjoy some good beer and food. The bartenders wont think twice about dishing out samples to ensure you get the beer you like best. Very clean, nice HUGE bay window in the front look out into the town. If you're in the area, i highly recommend stopping in for a bite to eat and a frosty brew to wash it down with.

This is a decent place in Havertown, PA just minutes from Rt. 3. Pretty basic faux British pub atmosphere...lots of space, a medium sized bar, several booths to sit in, and a nice outdoor setup with plenty of tables. Seems a little bit grungy, but it gives character, I suppose. The kitchen is visible from the bar, and is small and pretty unimpressive, but they get the job done. Service is okay. I actually recognized the bartender from another bar I frequent, and she recognized me.

Beer selection is decent. About 10 taps, with a few good micros to choose from, and other staples like Guinness and Stella. Macro beer in bottles, and a small wine selection. Food was okay for the price, but just generic pub fare: salads, apps, frozen burger patties.

Not a bad place, but I prefer the Westgate Pub, not too far away.

As a resident of Havertown, I am always unimpressed (actually, kind of disgusted) by the bar/pub offerings this town has. Nothing more than 'irish pubs' that serve nothing but BMC, Yuengling and Guiness.

Oakmont is the exception. However, it leaves a lot to be desired when compared to the pubs of philadelphia that I frequent.
For Havertown, though, it's great in comparison to the other offerings. They have a rotating (but small) selection of local microbrews and Chimay always on tap. The only place you can really get those beers within a couple miles.

They do some events for philly beer week, which is great (they're getting a keg of Pliny the Elder in June, though they're doing a gimmicky 'have to answer trivia questions and get them right to be able to buy a glass' thing.

I also hear that they do some homebrewing events. Though, I have not been involved with that (yet!).

Service is friendly. No problems there.

Outdoor seating when the weather is nice, which is also a plus.

The real gripe I have is the food, though. It's alright, but not great for the price. Also, they serve a bag of potato chips with their sandwiches and cheesesteaks. Fries are extra. Maybe i'm just knit picking, but that rubs me the wrong way.

UPDATED REVIEW: they got the Pliny the Elder for PBW, and i showed up for it. Thankfully, once i got there, they were not requiring trivia questions to buy a glass, but were asking them for random entertainment to customers. However, there was something 'off' with the Pliny. I can't be certain, but it seemed like their tap lines were dirty. There was a weird metallic aftertaste to the beer that kinda ruined it for me. Oh well. Kinda disappoints me that they would be able to get this beer in, but then mess it up. Apologies if it had nothing to do with the tap lines, but i was talking to someone else that said it seemed like that was the reason it tasted weird.
