The Eagles Mere Inn is a very surprising find in Northeastern PA. While the area has long been know as a winter and summer paradise, only recently has the Inn stepped up as a first rate beer location. The Inn is small, very quaint, and has a 4 star menu. But for the Beer Advocate fan, the basement pub is the gem. I went online and saw a pretty interesting beer list, enough to get my attention, but once we stopped at the pub (Nov. 8, 2010), I was blown away.
Great selection of beers from Belgium, Germany, England, Czech republic and American craft brewers. Way more than offered on the web site. Arrogant Bastard, Kasteel Rouge, Troegs, Green Flash, DTs and much more. The owner is well versed in the beers he offers and the food is great.

The downstairs pub of the Eagles Mere Inn has a fantastic bottle list. There were only four beers on tap, three local favorites and Anderson Valley IPA. The bartender was young but knowledgeable and very friendly. The pub has a big fireplace, a ping pong table, and a few other bar games.
The food menu was small but everything is homemade, much of the vegetables and herbs are grown on premises, meats are sourced locally, and everything was well prepared. There is entertainment on weekend nights.
I highly recommend dropping in if you're in the area.
