This is an old college haunt of mine. A Mexican restaurant that is split in half. One half is a regular sports bar with the taps, and a full bar. Several TV's and some booths. The other half is the restaurant, and is typical for a Mexican joint. There is also a nice patio outside as well. A laid back, if somewhat cookie cutter place.
The service and food is good. The bartenders are knowledgeable for the most part, and will talk beer sometimes. The restaurant side is mostly college coeds for servers, but they work hard. Lots of stuff on the menu. A full Mexican spread (well what we in America consider Mexican). Everything on the menu is really good. They also have some typical bar food. Surprisingly some really good wings, and I am not a big wing fan.
On to the beer. They have 12 taps. More than half are for micros. Usually Sierra Nevada is the main stay. Plenty of other rotating taps. One for a Sam Adams Seasonal. The others are a mix of the new Big Muddy Brewery out of Murphysboro some New Belgium, sometimes Rogue, and Big Sky is popular. The rest is the typical macros that are everywhere in Carbondale. The quality is pretty good. The taps are well maintained and clean.
Overall, not the best selection, but still nice. One of the only places in Carbondale that carries more than BMC and their pseudo crafts. Also a place that got me interested in trying new beers all those years ago, and the place has not changed at all. If in Carbondale, I would recommend a visit.

Let's be honest with this review... Tres Hombres is a Mexican restaurant, first and foremost, where local college kids also go to get laid and get drunk. They have bands and DJs playing most nights while college is in session. The night crowd is typically 19-25 years old with the staff in about the same age range. The waitresses are dressed to get tips and know nothing about beer other than they have Bud Light on special.
This DEFINITELY IS NOT a beer bar. What is it? It's a Mexican joint that doubles as a night spot. If you're young and want a Corona and some nachos, this is it for you!
I've seen offerings on tap of Fat Tire and Schlafly Pale Ale but craft offerings do not extend much beyond that. Better off carrying yourself down to Hangar 9 (a mile away down the strip) for a full tap lineup of craft beers.
