Stopped in while passing through town, we were headed to Coffee Grounds, and this was right down the street. It's a liquor department of a Gordy's supermarket, with a separate entrance on the right-hand side of the building. The vibe was a cross between a Viking and Woodmans, about 75% Viking (same ownership maybe, idk).
A platformed checkout station was right up front, where a despondent clerk presided silently while there were no customers checking out. I thought he was a cigar store indian at first, until I walked up and asked him about something after standing around nearby looking at a New Glarus display by the register up front. He directed us to the 2 NG Thumbprints in the cooler (IIPA, Winter Warmer) when asked about Berliner Weisse, and it turned out they didn't have any.
Selection was good, and NG sixers were $6.99, which was a great price. They had the Valkyrie (ex-Viking) lineup here in mixed sixers, the one thing Coffee Grounds didn't have, but maybe that was a choice they made based on quality/space constraints. Also Lazy Monk growlers, and a long open cooler along the back left wall (like Woodmans).
Overall a typical experience, good prices and selection, but not great. For the best place in town, head down the street to Coffee Grounds, and you won't be disappointed.

After hearing that there was a new Gordys in town I had to check it out. They always have a great liquor department. It looks a lot like the other store on Birch Street, but I think there is a better selection at this store. They have a lot of special rare beers in the larger bottles. The selection of craft beer is awesome at this store. The mix and match for making your own 6 pack has a better selection at this store as well. Really geared towards the craft beer. I didnt take time to check out the domestic beer, but im sure its in the walk in cooler that they have. The wine selection is very good, and the people working they are very helpful in finding what you want, they are very knowledgeable. This will prolly be the one stop shop for me, considering that this is also close to the coffee grounds.
