Cork and caged 75cl bottle, labelled as 'Noel', BBD Oct 14, poured at home on 1st Dec 13.

Dark brown with ruby hints, the head large, lasting and beige in colour.

Sweet fruity notes in the malty molasses aroma, hints of spices also.

The taste was also malty, those sweet molasses giving toffee and caramel flavours along with spiced hedgerow fruits.

The 8.5% ABV is nicely tucked away behind the depth of flavours making this easy to sip and enjoy.

Having been to a four Christmas Beer Festivals at Essen I like to think I've tried a few Belgian Xmas brews: my take on this is a Mr Average in all aspects.

This beer pours a deep red/ brown color and has the typical high ABV head, small which leaves some rings in the foam.

Smell is slightly cork, chocolate and other dark malts, caramel. A spicy beer with orange peel and some other spices, all very subtle and hard to determine. The alcohol is pretty evident.

Taste is warming, lots of dark malts, chocolate, caramel and a good dose of spiciness. Now I can also taste some clove I think. There is a good amount of bitter, which is a combination of hops and maltbitterness. Aftertaste is dry and mouthfeel is spot on and a bit sticky on the lips.

A great beer that matches any other Belgian strong dark ale!

BBE Nov 08. Great appearance with foreverlasting and nicely coloured beige foam and a dark brown almost black and in light giving a mahony shine through the cristal clear beer. Nose is very fruity giving citrussy and with that great carramellic maltyness alcohol more then just noticable but great in harmony with the rest of the brew. Decent note of fine hops in the back complete a great head. Taste is great also having a great nutty carramellic taste with litle roast in the back. Quiet sweet also but the alcohol and taste just form harmony alltogether an IMO a wonderfull beer with nice full balanced though litle sticky mouthfeel. Great pleasure to drink and IMO highly recomendable.

Bottle somewhere in Brussels I forgot to write down. Split with a buddy there. From notes.

A - Poured an extremely dark brown and an insane creamy 2 finger head that lasted the whole way. Tons of carbonation and great lacing as well.

S - Dark fruit and spice. Not exactly diverse but the spice isn't too strong which I like.

T - Alcohol, lot's of spice, dark fruit, yeast, and mouth wash?

M - Good carbonation and a medium body. Sorta light and plain.

O/D - Nothing special really. I struggle with Christmas beers b/c of their spice. This one was really no different with too much spiice and lacking depth.
