Sur Mosaic
To Øl
A 6% Pale Ale that has been slightly sour mashed to add an acidity that balances out some of the round fruity notes from the Mosaic hops. A crisp tart fruity pale ale.

Aroma is Mosaic hops, fruit and oddly dry malts. The flavor is Mosaic hops, fruit/mild berries, malts, mildly spicy in the middle and a dryish/very tart finish.

Thanks a bunch as always Chico1985.
A- Tallboy can releases a murky copper brew into my chalice that a tall white cap forms upon. The frothy head ascends to about two inches high with outstanding retention. Massive pillows of lacing remain on most of the glass after each sip.
S- Honestly not picking up a whole lot here which is odd considering the style and hop used. Earthy straw, generic yeast spices, a hint of apricot, wheat bread and herbal tea comes out here. Some pale cereal grain hints later on.
T- A bit confusing as I have had other brews from this series before. This batch (14/04/17) is not at all sour and the overall flavor profile is driven almost entirely by the base yeast: spices, pale fruits, grape stems, pear and cooking herbs/herbal tea notes are really strong. The hops seem very piney and unlike most Mosaic I have run into, resinous and bitter with just a hint of grapefruit pith/oils.
MF- Creamy and luscious mouth-feel that was foreshadowed by the appearance. The wheat really adds a padding to the texture and helps smooth out the extremely high carbonation. Ends with that sharp resinous bitterness lingering on the palate.
Hmm. Perhaps a bad or just off batch. Having several of the other Sur hop series brews this is more or less just like a Belgian Pale ale with strong yeast esters, spiciness and some pine resin hoppiness. Not sour at all and hardly hoppy. Would be willing to give it another go in the future.
