Truly amazing beer. By far the best Imperial Stout I've tasted. Gonna get me another bottle for aging. Goliat was a mighty warrior (defeated, but still), and this is a mighty beer.

Appearance: before opening the bottle I was almost certain it was painted black. Really, even the texture of the glass seemed like painted. Beer itself is pitch black with a thick tan / dark tan head. Great lacing.

Aroma: dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and some nice alcohol notes in the back. A perfect combination considering the time of year.

Taste: coffee and roasted malts with the first few sips, later comes dark chocolate with alcohol again. Flavours are intense and "in your face", except the alcohol notes, those are still very pleasant and warming, but doesn't feel like a 10,1% ABV.

Mouthfeel: very low carbonation, but not flat. Medium to full bodied.

Overall: Outstanding Imperial Stout, a beer you have to try.

375ml bottle poured into a Hill Farmstead tasting glass, side by side with the barrel aged variant.

The beer pours a jet black color, cola brown edges with a finger or so of khaki head that has nice lace a decent retention. The aroma is huge on the coffee, really nice choice of bean, smooth, rich, roasty, lots of chocolate, grain, a bit of sweetness and a touch of stone fruit, but man the coffee is huge and in your face, but really balanced within itself. The flavors are spot on, huge expression of coffee, chocolate, rich malted grain, a touch of roastiness, nice richness, mildly sweet with stone fruit and vanilla at the finish. The mouthfeel is excellent, thick, coating, rich, smooth, gentle but full bodied with an easy and creamy finish.

Verdict: A decadent and delicious coffee stout, all the hallmarks of a great stout with a perfectly integrated blast of coffee. One of the finest coffee stouts around, and in fact, one of the finest stouts in general. To Øl really hit the nail on the head here.

Purchased this by recommendation from the store beer buyer. This is in his "top 5" all time beers.

Appearance: Dark in color with a malty creamy head. 4.5

Smell: Chocolate and coffee are strongly present. There was another unique smell. I took multiple whiffs to discover it. I can most relate it to an acidic smell like lime juice. It actually fits in nicely. 4.5

Taste: Very unique, wonderful taste. Has the chocolate, coffee, lime juice taste with some more flavors going on as well. Very good my friends.

I am very glad I took his recommendation. I was a little worried as I purchase another one of his recommendations the same same and had it a few days before this one. I was not a fan of that brew (we will keep it unnamed) but this one is delightful, Highly Recommend

Until Next Time

Dark black, thick body, with a small dark brown head that leaves the glass just absolutely messed with stick: sheets, webs, and lines. A simply, gorgeous, perfectly attractive imperial stout.

Very nice, expressive, bold aroma of roasted coffee, cream, and bittersweet chocolate. Simple but bold and very nice. Complete.

The flavor is just as good as the aroma, with bittersweet chocolates, roasted coffee, mild dark fruit, and a moderate level of bitterness combining for one deliciously, decadent, coffee imperial stout.

Full in body with low to moderate carbonation. Only a mild alchohol hint. Easy drinking, but rich and decadent, all at once.

Flawless.

A coffee based based stout, and a really good one at that. Good roast aroma. Very brown coloured body with wisp of a head. Some chocolate sweetening it. Understated carbonation. Very drinkable and tasty.Brought back from Lakeview Liquors, and thanks for sharing Liam.

375 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Black. A little bit of a khaki head. Nice wisps on the surface.

Smell - Lots of coffee. Sweet malts. A little roast.

Taste - Sharp coffee and sweet caramel malts, but the roasted malts make more of an appearance and balance it out nicely. A little bit fruity in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Chewy and medium heavy. Bitter coffee aftertaste.

Overall - Good. Lots of coffee, but the stout backs it up nicely and the flavors work very well.

This was absolutely fantastic. My expectations were high, and it surpassed them in grand form.

Poured this one in a Jester King glass and the appearance was jet black with a small mocha head.

The nose was very nice with mostly cocoa and roasted coffee taking front seat.

Wow. The taste was truly amazing. It started with a sweet toffee and chocolate, but before becoming too sweet, the roasted coffee flavors appeared to bring a very nice balance. The finish was a sweet roasted mocha that lingered with a hint of bitterness.

The mouth feel was on the thicker side, but still allowed for a slick coating which really made for a creamy, silk feel. Carbonation was moderate.

Overall, the balance of this beer was very impressive. Everything hit on all cylinders and was truly one of the best beers I've tasted. I will definitely be buying this again.
