Beer pours jet black with a nice amount of creamy dark tan head, leaves a good amount of lacing on the glass. Decent head retention.

On the nose there is a decent toasted/burnt malt presence, but the coffee dominates the aroma. There is also a very slight floral hoppy presence layered beneath the coffee. Not boozy at all.

Flavor wise I can pick out a hoppy presence, more of an earthy hoppy note than anything though. I can't pick out as much of the toasted malts as I would have expected. The coffee is there, but I notice the hops more than anything. Not too much of a boozy bite, more of a hoppy bite than boozy.

Mouthfeel is pretty slick, moderately thick, high carbonation levels, not a huge fan of the mouthfeel.

Overall, it reminds me more of a black coffee dipa than an imperial stout, not really bad by any means, but not really in line with what I would call an imperial stout.

Purchased this by recommendation from the store beer buyer. This is in his "top 5" all time beers.

Appearance: Dark in color with a malty creamy head. 4.5

Smell: Chocolate and coffee are strongly present. There was another unique smell. I took multiple whiffs to discover it. I can most relate it to an acidic smell like lime juice. It actually fits in nicely. 4.5

Taste: Very unique, wonderful taste. Has the chocolate, coffee, lime juice taste with some more flavors going on as well. Very good my friends.

I am very glad I took his recommendation. I was a little worried as I purchase another one of his recommendations the same same and had it a few days before this one. I was not a fan of that brew (we will keep it unnamed) but this one is delightful, Highly Recommend

Until Next Time

375 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Black. A little bit of a khaki head. Nice wisps on the surface.

Smell - Lots of coffee. Sweet malts. A little roast.

Taste - Sharp coffee and sweet caramel malts, but the roasted malts make more of an appearance and balance it out nicely. A little bit fruity in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Chewy and medium heavy. Bitter coffee aftertaste.

Overall - Good. Lots of coffee, but the stout backs it up nicely and the flavors work very well.
