A - Received this in a trade; was highly looking forward to cracking this. Poured into a snifter. Pours a very thick black. No light penetration. 1 finger of a brown head with very little lacing.

S - Very roasty, hints of smoked/burnt wood, chocolate, a little scotch smell and some cocoa

T - Very smokey. Fudge, chocolate, cocoa. After taste has an even heavier taste of smoked wood. This beer warmed up tastes a little sweeter

M - Coats mouth, Very creamy and sticky

O - I was real excited to have this coming in a trade and it was well worth the hype. The smokeyness is heavy but it's balanced really well. Great characteristics. BA says 13% but bottle says 10.2%. Either way it's fantastic

Bottle from Jeffo. Served in a snifter.

A - Dark tan foam settles to a thin collar, splotchy wisps, and a few specks of lace. Very dark brown body.

S - Roasty, charry, with oak, smoke and perhaps a hint of peat. I'm not sure I'd guess this was whisky barrel-aged, as I might assume it's just a very roasty stout. As it warms there's a bit of lactose and icing sugar sweetness.

T - Taste has more sweetness, leading to improved balance. A nice mix of roast, fudge, dark chocolate, molasses, anise, vanilla, oak, and a mildly peaty whisky finish. Well-hidden booze.

M - There's a bit of warming the reveals the listed 13%, but I probably would have guessed in the 10-11% range. Creamy, soft, rich medium-full body with pleasant active carbonation. Tannic and oaky finish, with only a hint of lingering stickiness on the palate.

D - This beer is really good. Don't understand why it isn't available stateside, as it's the best beer I've had from To Øl. I easily crushed the 33cl bottle during my fantasy football draft.

Pours a dark kola hue with khaki two finger head and lacing everywhere, the nose is a nice combination of whiskey and dark chocolate along with a underlying ocean breeze smell too I like it,the mouthfeel is full and well carbonated with tastes of dark chocolate malts, the slightest hint of whiskey and I mean slight and finished with a slight sourness and overall it's quite tasty and would drink again cheers.

Some old-school To Øl - barrel-aged imperial milk stout, 330ml. This has some age on it, probably about 18 months or so I believe. Not sure what the label says for the most part but I love it.

Appearance - Snifter pour is pitch black with a small brown head. Quickly reduces to a ring and partial cap, leaving spots of lace.

Smell - Decent mix of milk+dark chocolate, a lactose/milk stout vibe for sure but sweetness is far from cloying. Some licorice and maybe slight oxidation (not bad here). Whiskey, oak and alcohol are quite light at first but show up more with warmth.

Taste - Taste is an improvement. Still somewhat on the simple side but definitely more strength and a bit more evened out. Lots of milk+dark chocolate, caramel, and whiskey; licorice and just small touches of dark fruit. Coffee ground finish is the only semi-roasty quality.

Mouthfeel - Silky smooth, carbonation is perfect, heftiness is on the lower side maintaining its milk stout feel. Noticeable alcohol but quite drinkable/not boozy compared to something like Bourbon County Stout.

Overall - Kind of lacks in complexity compared to many other big barrel-aged stouts but still quite good. Succeeds in the barrel-aged milk stout category for sure. Definitely a little bit of age showing through, but its hard to tell if its affected it positively, negatively, or neither.

Drunk from my Double Bastard glass (courtesy of joecast).

Black with nice head/lacing.

Nose is like a tiramisu- lots of sweet cream, liqueur and coffee. Some nutty roast I associate with a sweet stout. But lots of coffee and dessert. I gradually get a big, formidable Imperial Stout roast forming. Sometimes get some fishiness/seaweed, presumably from the Scotch. Some firestick-y alcohol (the good kind)

Taste is more sort of caramel, fruity, chocolate-y desserts. Scotch-barrel is more explicitly present here, bringing a greaty smoky and sort of refined spirituous character.

Mouthfeel is sweet-roast-scotchy. Well balanced currently. More age and it could get a little sweet.

Great beer. This would garner a lot of hype if it were brewery-only limited release in the US.

Drank from my Duvel Tulip

A - This beer pours a thick black, oily colour with a deep coffee coloured head that reduces to a decent film with thick lacing. Nice

S - Aromas of sweet malt, hop and chocolate. Delicate and yet balanced. impressive

T - Well up front there is some really nice sweet flavours followed by chocolate, coconut, licorice and a nice bitter sweet after taste, that is the result of the whiskey barrel. The booze is a little warming on the finish.

M - A very silky texture and full mouthfeel. The carbonation is perfect.

O - This is the best stout that I have had in some time. The balance here is very impressive as is the mouthfeel. A top brew. I don't think there is much more to ask of a stout.
