Pours a cloudy golden/orange color with a massive straw colored head. Laces moderately and retains head in a huge way (in a glass with no etchings!)

Smells grassy, lemony, with some candy sweetness and a hint of fresh grain.

Light caramel malt with some lemon, pine, and grassy notes, which give way to a light candy sweetness. Lingers with a bready sweetness and hints of lemon.

Glides over the tongue effervescently, this beer is perfectly carbonated for the flavors it brings forward.

I initially approached this beer as a saison, and then I found To Øl's release describing it as a table/pale ale aggressively hopped and fermented with brett. Its not really a true saison, but it comes out as a fantastically complex summer pale-like ale. I love the way the taste lingers on the tongue with just enough of the sour to remind you its there. This turned out to be one of my favorite random liquor store selections and I will be seeking out more beers from To Øl.

this is a damn fine beer, sending a bit of a curious political message, with that unfinished hotel from north korea i think, right? but the beer in the bottle is fantastic. foggy bronze color with a colossal white head, airy and cloud-like, not going anywhere. the nose is hoppy in the citrus family, but real yeasty, tons of farmy funk. not sure if this is brett fermented or conditioned, but it has that kind of nose, and it absolutely has that kind of dryness. the flavor of the grain is rather delicate for its richer reddish color, i get some fruity esters from the yeast too, belgian in nature for sure. there is a classic farmhouse flavor to this, similar to some mikkeller brews, that i just love, but the yeast has manifested itself in a very interesting way in terms of mouthfeel. i take a sip and hold it for just a second, and the intensely fizzy feel continues to expand to point where liquid ceases to exist and all of the beer has turned into a wispy effervescent fluff, and there is basically nothing to swallow anymore, so strange, so unique. this is what makes me think there is some brett in here, but it could just be a killer belgian strain. never had a beer do that, and for it to finish so dry after being both so hoppy and so funky, is amazing. a brilliantly crafted brew here, probably my favorite from these guys so far.

330ml bottle. Goblet glass. Brass color & foggy appearance. White foam forms a close crown that leaves a lasting layer on top while dissipates. Brett aroma, hints of smoke, sour on the back, green bay leaves & spices to the nose. Sweet malty upfront cut by sour touch. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Funny palate. Oily texture. Sour/sweet finish & acidic notes on the aftertaste. Delightful. Great job !!

Poured into a Chimay goblet from a 750mL.

Pours a hazy peach/gold with almost an inch of head, decent lace retention.

The smell is pretty amazing. Smells like walking through an orchard of mixed ripe fruit. The floral, fruit and earthy notes are out of this world!

Light and crisp, yet complex and flavorful. Grains, fruit and grassy/earthy hops mix well up front with the Belgian yeast. Dries out with a hint of tartness in the middle. Dry, crisp finish.

A little pricy, but very nice Saison or Belgian Pale. I'm tempted to cellar!

A: Crisp yellow, almost cider-looking, and a slight touch of haze. Faint white head.

S: Like walking through a garden, flowers, freshly cut grass, lemon zest, incredibly refreshing.

T: This falls somewhere between a Pale Ale and a Saison. Has great floral hop notes, with a bready, spicy maltiness, all while remaining light. Delicate flavors like white grapes and rose water end up being vibrant, when considering the ABV.

M: Light, but not overly carbonated. Refreshing is a word that should keep showing up in this review.

O/D: A bit of a mutt when grading to style, but it brings out the best characteristics of a Pale Ale and Saison, making this a unique treat to find. The floral notes are out of this world.

On-tap 9/20/2013 at Julian’s in Providence, RI, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a large foamy off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains Belgian yeast, hops, caramelized malts and some citrus.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of Belgian yeast and a hearty malt character. Then a strong but not over-powering hops bitterness comes in. There is some mild caramel and citrus sweetness providing some balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly hoppy.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Very tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, very good representation of style, this is a nice flavorful Saison to drink for a long time.

Poured into a 3 Monts tulip. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a huge four finger white head that dissipates quickly to one finger of persistent foam with massive lacing. Aroma an unusual blend of tropical and stone fruit and spicy saison yeast, quite floral. Quite complex and inviting. Flavor starts with dry saison yeast, Brett, citrus and citrus rind, faint mixed fruit, very slightly sour; quickly dries out even more, finishing bone dry with lingering bitter Brett, almost astringent. The floral quality oddly reassert themselves in a long lingering aftertaste. Light bodied with very active, peppery carbonation. While I almost wish for more of the interesting fruit flavors of the aroma to assert themselves in the taste, I think the brewers created what they were intending, a relatively complex, dry saison with assertive Brett finish. This is not my style and somewhat more Brett than I like, but I still enjoyed this well made saison. The good balance won me over, with a light touch for sourness, and at first for the Brett.
