this is a damn fine beer, sending a bit of a curious political message, with that unfinished hotel from north korea i think, right? but the beer in the bottle is fantastic. foggy bronze color with a colossal white head, airy and cloud-like, not going anywhere. the nose is hoppy in the citrus family, but real yeasty, tons of farmy funk. not sure if this is brett fermented or conditioned, but it has that kind of nose, and it absolutely has that kind of dryness. the flavor of the grain is rather delicate for its richer reddish color, i get some fruity esters from the yeast too, belgian in nature for sure. there is a classic farmhouse flavor to this, similar to some mikkeller brews, that i just love, but the yeast has manifested itself in a very interesting way in terms of mouthfeel. i take a sip and hold it for just a second, and the intensely fizzy feel continues to expand to point where liquid ceases to exist and all of the beer has turned into a wispy effervescent fluff, and there is basically nothing to swallow anymore, so strange, so unique. this is what makes me think there is some brett in here, but it could just be a killer belgian strain. never had a beer do that, and for it to finish so dry after being both so hoppy and so funky, is amazing. a brilliantly crafted brew here, probably my favorite from these guys so far.

33cl bottle. Clear orange pour with a very tall head with good retention. Smells funky, like a dank cellar, salty and of overripe sweet fruit. The taste is again funky, with notes of ripe fruit, salt and a bit of lemon zest. Very refreshing.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of April 2018. Acquired a while back from the Brewdog webshop. The label describes it as a funky Belgian-style farmhouse pale ale, in addition to informing you that architecture is politics (which is true).

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A hazy orange-amber hue with fine sediment and plentiful carbonation. Produces a vast head of fluffy, meringue-like foam with superb retention; this slowly reduces to a thick surface layer. Nice lacing.

S: Aroma of fruity yeast esters with hints of white grape, mild sour lemon, green apples, subtle spice, earthiness, grain and faint stewed leaves. Lovely saison profile.

T: Tastes of fruity yeast esters with a tart, bone-dry finish. Notes of lemon rind, faint white grape, a hint of green apples, spice, earthy yeast, grain, husks and stewed leaves. Highly attenuated, followed by a dry, lingering yeasty character upon swallowing. Mild bitterness.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with effervescent carbonation and good body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of sharp, fruity yeast esters, earthiness and mild stewed leaves.

O: Impressive - an excellent take on a classic Belgian style. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are dominated by dry, fruity yeast notes and hints of grain. Lovely body. Stands out from the crowd and goes down all too easy. Well worth sampling if you come across it.

Hazy, overripe peach color with white head. A lot of funky brett notes in the aroma along with some overripe stonefruits like peach and apricot. Taste follows with the brett funk and some underlying fruit notes. Mouthfeel is really soft and smooth with the right amount of carbonation. Overall this is a really good saison. A lot of brett character without any tartness. Somehow clean overall and extremely drinkable.

Overall I feel like I needed to have this beer fresh because compared to my home brewed French Saison it is missing something. Overall still a well made beer.

Poured into a 3 Monts tulip. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a huge four finger white head that dissipates quickly to one finger of persistent foam with massive lacing. Aroma an unusual blend of tropical and stone fruit and spicy saison yeast, quite floral. Quite complex and inviting. Flavor starts with dry saison yeast, Brett, citrus and citrus rind, faint mixed fruit, very slightly sour; quickly dries out even more, finishing bone dry with lingering bitter Brett, almost astringent. The floral quality oddly reassert themselves in a long lingering aftertaste. Light bodied with very active, peppery carbonation. While I almost wish for more of the interesting fruit flavors of the aroma to assert themselves in the taste, I think the brewers created what they were intending, a relatively complex, dry saison with assertive Brett finish. This is not my style and somewhat more Brett than I like, but I still enjoyed this well made saison. The good balance won me over, with a light touch for sourness, and at first for the Brett.

Drank from my To Øl chalice.

A - Pours a slightly hazy straw colour with a large two fingered head that stay the distance.

S - Phenols of grass, yeast and plenty of citrus. Very pronounced

T - Really nice full flavoured with plenty of yeast and citrus. The finish has no sweetness and is a nice balnce of bitter and spice.

M - Medium body with light to medium carbonation.

O - Another quality brew from To Øl. This stacks up well, even against Fantome and Dupont.

330ml bottle. Goblet glass. Brass color & foggy appearance. White foam forms a close crown that leaves a lasting layer on top while dissipates. Brett aroma, hints of smoke, sour on the back, green bay leaves & spices to the nose. Sweet malty upfront cut by sour touch. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Funny palate. Oily texture. Sour/sweet finish & acidic notes on the aftertaste. Delightful. Great job !!
