Pours golden orange with a one fingered slightly off-white head that lingers in balloon glass.

Smell is acidic with an apple and funk character to it as well.

Taste is slightly tart up front, but quickly followed by a funkiness and lots of bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel is light bodied with average carbonation.

Overall this was disappointingly not very sour. Interesting beer and worth a try, but not great.

Found one of these at Mike's in Waldo KC.

Opened it and it smelled metallic and skunky, poured a slightly hazed orange with a thin skim that fades to a ring around the edges. No lace.

Traces of tropical hops, not much though, earthy wet wood, skunk from the green bottle remains.

Tart and citrusy, a hint of skunked hops, dry oaky aftertaste. Pretty acidic, taste seems slightly funky, something about it seems out of place however. Likely the green bottle skunkiness. It was pretty good but I wouldn't get it again unless it was fresh. Seems more like a wild ale than anything.

375 ml bottle. Served in a tulip, the beer pours a hazy golden/orange color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The brew smells like oak, green apple, lemon zest, hay, and some citrusy/floral hops. It tastes like oak, funk, green apple, hay, bready malt, white grapes, peaches and some pear. This tastes better the longer I drink this. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it has a good amount of carbonation and it's easy to drink. I liked this brew a lot, although it's pricey at $14.99 a bottle. Definitely worth a try!

I had this on tap at Mikkeller Bar SF grand opening on 8/9/13. First drink of the day. Reviewed from notes taken on my phone.

A - Light yellowish-tan, slightly cloudy body. A small white head that quickly dissipated, leaving a slight lacing at the top of the tulip glass.

S - Straight up citrus and oak. First hit of smell I got was lemon and bitter orange peel, followed by cork oak. Floral hoppiness finished out the smell. Seemed like a great start to a great day.

T - A sour-bitter funk up. Slightly above-average tasting gueuze. Definitely some meyer-esque lemon and more of a bitterness from lemon peel rathger than orange peel. As it warmed up, I could really get the taste of citrus blossom in the mix with the above-mentioned flavors. A decent oakiness that tasted more like cork oak than oak barrels.

M - Slight carbonation that definitely waned as it sat a bit and warmed up. Very dry aftertaste that leaves some of the bitterness from the lemon peel feel in your mouth.

O - It was a slightly above-average geuze. I cannot say that I would go out and seek it again, but it is definitely worth a try if you happen to see a bottle or on tap somewhere. I dont know if there is betel nut/leaf in it as the name suggests, but it has been over 10 years since I tried betel, so I forgot how it tastes (it was the first/last time). Perhaps the bitterness was not from citrus peel, but rather from the betel nut???
