375 ml bottle. Served in a Great Lakes Brewing chalice, the beer pours dark brown black with a couple inch frothy tan head that sticked around a long time. There's also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee and chili peppers. It tastes like roasted malt, smoke, bittersweet and milk chocolate, chili peppers, molasses and some coffee. The chili pepper in this beer isn't strong at all. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and creamy with moderate carbonation. Pretty easy to drink for a beer that's 12.3% ABV. Overall, I liked this brew. It's nice and tasty, although I wish there was more of a chili pepper kick to it. $12.99 a bottle.

Appearance - Dark brown to black (I didn't drink it somewhere well-lighted) with a thick but small head.

Smell - Chocolate with a hint of the chili pepper, and something sweet I can't quite identify.

Taste - This one packs a punch. The heat isn't really noticeable at first, but over time it really develops. Lots of chocolate, and a bit of an oatmeal stout flavor to it. It's a Serious Stout, and surprisingly one that improves as it warms. I wasn't really sold on it at first, but as I've worked my way through the glass, the flavor has grown on me. About halfway through, the cognac barrel shines through and really serves as a nice complement.

Mouthfeel - Thick, but still quite smooth. Low carbonation, which in my estimation is always a good thing. Not much alcohol heat for the abv, but the chili heat picks up over the course of a glass.

Overall - A monster stout, and quite well-rounded with the cognac smoothness and chili spice. Definitely worth a tasting if you run across one.

Had this beer while travelling in Barcelona

A - Pitch black body with a thin chestnut head.

S - Smoke, milk chocolate, and hints of chili pepper spice.

T - A overwhelming rush of sweet milk chocolate hits the tongue at first. Then, creeps in a smoky spiciness that just keeps building throughout the tasting. The finish is rich, sweet, boozy, and spicy, with no bitterness from the hops or roasted malt.

M - Very frothy, almost meringue body. Weird, but it kind of works to lift up the heaviness of the body. Unlike any beer I've ever had.

O - For a Danish chili beer, this exceeded all expectations. The spiciness was warming and pungent. The mouthfeel is certainly from left field, though. Well worth a try!

Poured out a dark, murky brown color, with little to no head. Sits black in the glass. Smells of roasted malts, pepper skin, some smoke. Tastes smokey, dense, roasted to hell with a very slight sweetness. Lightly carbonated and think, lends it self to sticking around a while. Not a huge chili presence at all. maybe the tiniest of lingering heat on the way back of your tongue. Overall, it was a pretty good beer.

Imperial stout brewed with chiles (chipotle, ancho, guajillo), been putting this off for a little while. 375ml split during a snowstorm.

Appearance - Pitch black pour into 2 tulips. Tall brown head eventually falls to a thick ring and thin cap and leaves bits of lace behind.

Scent - Lots of roast, char and very dark chocolate. Light smokiness and a good amount of chili spices that intensifies with warmth. Only a tiny bit of cocoa sweetness here.

Taste - Taste pretty much is on point with the smell, some more chili spice coming through makes it a slight improvement. Lots of dark chocolate, dense roast and char, a touch of molasses and licorice, good amount of smoky+vegetal chile presence.

Mouthfeel - Thick and velvety mouthfeel with nice medium carbonation to it. Lingering chili heat, not much in the way of alcohol heat though.

Overall - Nice dense roasty chocolate stout base that is similar to other To Ol beers (Goliat, Brewmance), the chiles mesh very well.

Bottle only states "11161304". Not sure if this is a date or what but I figured I'd note it.

A: Pitch-black pour with a big and very dense dark brown head. Fades slowly, leaving expansive walls of lacing behind with lots of little dots filling in the cracks. Nice island of foam remains behind long after the head has faded away.

S: Loaded with chocolate and peppers, like a proper mexican chocolate. Some heat to go with the vegetal chile peppers. A touch of char.

T: Chocolatey up front. Some smoky, chalky char mixed with vegetal peppers. Mild pepper heat, not sure what it is. With the smokiness it reminds me of chipotles. Lingering chili pepper heat in the aftertaste with lots of bittersweet chocolate and hints of char.

M: Somewhat heavy and thick. Leaves a chalky sort of residue in the aftertaste that lingers for a long time.

O: Decent chili stout. Not overly hot but has quite a bit of a long-lingering spicy flavor and just a little smoldering heat to go with it. Pretty nice char and chocolate from the roasted malt. Overall makes for a nice combination. One of the chalkiest beers I've had, it's not detracting but it coats the mouth like you just ate a bunch of tums. I gave it a little boost since I particularly enjoy chili stouts.
