Poured from a bottle into a MadTree snifter. The pour is very black and viscous with about a finger of light brown head that quickly gets swallowed up by the rest of the beer. I get lots of rich malt and bourbon notes on the nose. They complement other aromas of dark chocolate, oak, and vanilla.

The beer has a full body, a slick, oily feel, and an exquisite flavor. Loads of sweet malt, milk chocolate, and toffee flavors greet you up front. I find that the oak notes from the barrel seem to arrive before the bourbon notes do, lending some vanilla and caramel-like flavors to the hodgepodge of sweetness before the bourbon does its thing. It charges in (like it does), but never gets out of control. It blends with all the sweet notes and provides alcohol warmth and boozy richness to the flavor, bringing to mind an after-dinner liqueur. A hint of dark fruit tinges the flavor (possibly also a hint of coconut) and joins the bourbon and chocolate on the finish. Not what I would call dangerously drinkable. It's more of a sipper. Oddly, the feel seems thin under all that sweetness, but it's still fairly creamy.

I was always under the impression that the standard Imperial Biscotti Break was a very sweet, coffee-flavored imperial stout. I found that beer to be quite well-balanced and not intensely sweet at all. Now THIS beer (the Bourbon barrel aged version), is very sweet indeed. I don't get any coffee out of it at all, but I do get loads of toffee, chocolate, and bourbon and those flavors play very nicely on my palate. I'm not going to drink this whole bottle in one night. I'm going to enjoy it over a few nights and evaluate it each time. I hope Evil Twin makes this stuff again (and again and again!). Definitely worth seeking out. Pick this up if you find it.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a snifter

A-pours pitch black with with a small mocha head. Leaves decent lacing down the glass.

S-smells of bourbon, oak, chocolate and a tiny hint of vanilla

T-what you smell is what you taste. Great bourbon up front and then in the back is chocolate, vanilla and some slight surgery smoke. Little to no heat.

M-silky smooth and creamy. Very light and easy to drink

O-A very good BB beer. Very well brewed
