Effortlessly cool, popping up in a cultish fashion and constantly on a tasty mission. This is Mission Gose: our take on an old-fashioned and slightly odd German beer style that is with good reason trending as the tastiest right now. It’s tart, salty, low in alcohol and probably the most refreshing beer you’ll ever have. Perhaps enjoy this beer in a restaurant with a mission near you. Wherever you are we made it stylishly good and exclusively well balanced just for you.

I had this beer a while ago, before I started drinking any sours and I did not rate or review it as I did not like it and had nothing to compare it to. Second time around and still don't really like it. Pours a slightly cloudy yellow with a huge, pretty quickly dissipating white head with lively carbonation and leaves spotty lacing. Smells of sour citrus, salt, coriander, lemon and a medicinal element that I do not find appealing. Tastes extremely sour, lemon, citric acid, mild to moderate salinity, coriander, eucalyptus and floral notes. The medicinal quality in the smell is present in the taste but just as a background note. Light bodied, well carbonated, very dry and puckering mouth feel.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 12 oz. can into a Cycle Brewing goblet.

A: Hazy light gold with a good amount of visible carbonation. Forms a thin white head that fades away quickly.

S: Lactic tart, with sour citric acid and lemons. Two row and mild pilsner malts. Coriander and a vegetal lemongrass, and something mildly medicinal that I’m guessing is the eucalyptus. Almost a medicinal lemon-meets-lavender smell. Weird, and not overly appealing to me but not a deal breaker.

T: Citric acid and a lemony bite up front. Lactic tart, with the coriander and moderate salinity. Pale two-row malts, and (gladly for me) not much pilsner malts on the flavor. There’s a juicy lemon-lime flavor that might be from the eucalyptus – none of the medicinal character on the flavor. It still does have a touch of the vegetal lemongrass though. It finishes with more citrus tart and a modest salinity.

M: Light-bodied, but the carbonation sensation is a bit lower than it should be for style. No alcohol presence to speak of.

O: This tastes quite a bit better than it smelled. But while it's not a bad beer - and I’ll drink the rest of the 4 or 6 pack (whatever it is) without a problem - I don’t think I’d go back for more though. A middle-of-the-pack beer for canned goses these days.

Appearance – huge five finger head over a hazy yellow body.

Aroma – Sour, somewhat floral, pungent, a little citrus

Taste – Sour, floral, with hint of eucalyptus in a good way.

Mouthfeel – quite puckering.

Overall – surprising that I liked it as much as I did with eucalyptus in there.

Poured into a stange, the appearance was a semi-bright yellow color with a finger's worth of balanced fizzy to foamy white head. Dissipated at a fair pace and didn't leave any lace.
The aroma had some "sour-ed wheat" to semi-sweet citrus with an ample tart lemon edge and a presentable saline character that I expect in the style.
The flavor was moderately sour with the tartness, the sweetness and saline qualities melding into each other very nicely. Slight aftertaste of the sour-ed wheat and a touch of lemon with some salt.
The mouthfeel was about light bodied, perhaps just a touch above. Made for a pretty good session. ABV felt appropriate. Carbonation felt good. Nice sour to tart finish with a touch of sweet.
Overall, this is actually a better gose than I originally thought, not sure why I first thought it wasn't as good but when one sees this at face value for the style, that person will like this one.
