Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, nearly opaque in the glass and a nice one finger light brown head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt and blueberries with hints of milk chocolate and mild coffee and vanilla. Flavor is dry toasted malt, chocolate, berry fruit with a mild blueberry profile; finishes lighter with blueberry and coffee notes, somewhat tart and astringent in the end. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Modest body for a porter, with a foreign export profile. Good blueberry presence that fits well, but is a little stark in the finish, leaving a slightly tart and astringent flavor. Interesting and novel, the blueberry fits well with dark malt, but my taste might have preferred a sweeter Russian stout body for the berries. Another interesting Evil Twin experiment.

This was poured into an English pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger off white to tan head that dissipated fairly quickly. Spider web lacing clings in rings around the glass nicely. The smell takes in the normal qualities of a porter - roasty cocoa, light coffee and then some vanilla and iced blueberries slide in for a nice combination. The taste was balanced between the sweet and the roast with a subtle dry bitterness penetrating my tastebuds. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a soft smooth to creamy feel laying down on my tongue and somewhat semi-sticky. Overall, for a porter I’d say it works. The addition of the blueberry balanced in really nice. I’d have again.

everything about this beer is incredible. i wish i bought a couple of them when i had the chance. a big fluffy porter brewed with blueberries, there is nothing really quite like it out there that i have encountered any place. the bottle and the label are awesome, and the pour is too. shiny inky black with a sturdy inch of lighter brown head. smells like tangy dried blueberries rather than fresh ones, and its pretty subtle really, crowded out a bit by the coffee aromatic in the dark malt. vibrant roast profile in the flavor, dark but not dead, alive still very much, barky and woody, ashy, dry as can be, with a hint of a mild english yeast in there, maybe even some Scandinavian strain, but its not neutral. the berries come out more and more as the beer sits in the glass and warms up, getting pretty balanced as a contributor by the end. they have some tang and some sweet, they remind me of summer in the mountains, tasting almost more like wild blueberries than the bigger ones that are commercially available. it a neat flavor with all the roast, the cut through it just enough, a hint of jam to it as well, but great balance. it grew on me each sip, and by the time it was gone, i was wishing for more. really pretty splendid little beer here that probably shouldnt have flown under the radar as much as it did. yum!

This is an incredibly smooth porter. WOW! Color was black with a small tan head that floated on top. The smell was a bit 'plastic' like. I did not like it. Funny thing is that he smell and the taste were 180 degrees apart. Sometimes roasted, sometimes blueberry taste, always smooth as silk. Really easy to drink and enjoy, but I would not stick my nose in it often.

Pours dark brown with a medium brown head that is fast fading. Looks great for about 4 seconds and then head fades completely.

Nose is all rich luscious plums, sweet chocolate and cherry cordials. Hints of dried blueberries.

Mouth feel is medium bodied with medium carbonation and with an unbalanced malt/acid - front is super acidic with malty undertones - weird mouth feel - unique and not appealing.

Once you get over the mouth feel the flavor profile is awesome. Lots of sweet chocolate that goes to bitter chocolate with coffee and toffee undertones. The finish is one of the best I've had - rich coffee/smoke grains and smoked blueberries and appealing ash.

This is a very strange beer with lots wrong with it and lots right with it.

look: nearly opaque dark brown, just a bit of cola highlights when held to light. Dark mocha head.
smell: Blueberries and Porter about as evenly balanced as you can get.
taste: considerably more happening than in the nose. getting blueberry, and dark fruits, some roasty dark chocolate tempered by the fruits. A hint of spice in the finish.
