Admittedly old bottle here but the initial smell was pretty sour. It was unexpected but I hoped it would carry through to the taste. It didn’t. Did not sit well with me, poured half the bottle.

Hazy, orange-ish body displaying a thick, creamy head; sheets of lacing along the glass. Bready aroma mixed with hints of orange and other fruits. Toasted cereal grain flavors; toffee; fine bitterness bringing up the finish; some late developing alcohol notes. Heavy bodied; velvety and viscous; residual sugars providing some heft; some boozy dryness.
I like a bold mild ale and this imperial offering delivers the goods. It brings on a warm, biscuit-y malt presence while the huge alcohol presence is there but not overpoweringly so. No, it's not a traditional mild ale -- too boozy in one aspect, yet very malt forward with a prominent yet balanced alcohol punch.

Easily the most floaties I've ever seen in a beer.

L: Pours a hazy tea colored amber under a 1” off white foam cap.
S: Spicy grain aromas with nuts and some light fruit.
T: Very creamy, citrus, light fruit, tropical fruit, light malts. The malt is medium, the fruit is medium high, the hop bitterness is medium to medium low. The beer really has a big citrusy tropical fruit thing going on with lingering tropical fruit aftertastes moderated by a moderate hop bitterness.
F: Medium full body, medium to medium low carbonation, mildly warming.
O: A big bold version of a beer that is usually small and sessionable.

Enjoyed from a growler via EightBall Brewing enjoyed in a snifter. This nice Imperial Mild Ale (WHAT??) pours a nice peach tinged amber with a nice head of white foam that subsides to a thick ring, light pool, and subtle lacing. Nose of breaded malts, light stone fruits, and heavy handed hops. Flavors exceed the nose with breadd malts and grain notes dipped generously in light caramel malts on the front and sides, mild fruit notes of peaches brace hard against strong grain notes and warming booze that fades to a heavy handed hop blast of herbal, floral, and moderately bitter citrus hops that lingers long on the finish with a touch of mead and slight metallic notes. Nice mouth feel, subtly creamy, just right carbonation. Improves vastly with warmth. Reminds me of some of the Russian blonde dopplebocks out there. Good, but not great as compared to other offering from this fantastic company. A unique hybrid that is good but odd.
Cheers

Pours an effervescent & hazed bronze, with a sliver of beige head. Floaties on the bottom of the bottle. Slightly above average head retention & lacing, but mess of a beer appearance-wise
S: Pears & breadyness
T: Follows the nose, a little cakeyness, leafy hops & slight boozeyness up front, a little toffee as well. Dryness, leafy hops, pears, some more booze, along with a little caramel & figs. Finishes dry, fruity, with woody hops & more booze warmth
MF: Medium body, slightly over-carbonated, okay balance
This had promise, but just not that well put together, not impressed. Let this warm up quite a bit, did get a little better near room temperature

a simply astounding price point for what this is, brutally bad really, and i am kind of upset about it. the beer is fine, even good, but for something like 15 bucks a bomber, its just offensive to everyone else who makes good beer and sells it fairly. this should rot on shelves if we care enough to take a stance. that said, a nice rich red malt base, english and coppery, sweet, a little metallic, and pretty majorly hoppy. the head is lacy and frothy and thick, and its permanent, off white, and allows an aroma of piney hops and a hybrid type yeast pass through. i like the way the intense hop bitterness balances the malt sugars in the finish, its bold but it also really resolves itself. i like a big malty beer like this, its really solid in the fall, but there are no slow fermenting wild yeasts, no expensive and time consuming barrels involved, or anything else for that matter that i can think of to justify the price, even an international shipping wouldnt make it more than double whats reasonable. good beer, horrible deal.
